Dear forum,

I have been researching the above and upping my knowledge of the larger models (possibly for regular wear), and have stumbled across this one in an online auction, and I think it is potentially a redial but thought I would reach out for opinions?

Here is what I have learned so far:
Connie Jumbo - 14777 62 SC
Year - 1962
Cal - 561

The reason I thought it may be a redial are as follows - between the 3 & 4 it looks to me as if the 4th minute marker is missing, and the same between the 10 & 11 marker the 4th minute marker is missing or faded.

II would also welcome any other thoughts on this, it is going for around £1600.

Best wishes
Dave

Redial from what I have seen of this reference. Text font is not correct. Also 99% of 14777 examples don't have the 'Officially Certified' text.

Thanks very much for the advice, I suspected so, that and it has been hanging around on eBay for a while, I figure any genuine one's will be snapped up quickly 😀

Agreed it's a redial. The fonts on the Constellation are thicker compared to others

Wait wait. I was looking at this one as well. And I found a exact similar dial layout with the particular text. Two 14777's with same strange n's, etc...

I wonder if it is original as @new_heuer and @Shabbaz are thinking.

Anyway, why would the ticks be missing at those two locations? I've marked the dial feet positions for this calibre series in red below and sometimes the feet are tight in the main plate. So, if you're clumsy and pushing down on the dial (with a piece of peg wood for example) to get the feet in, these are the two areas you would push... Easy to wipe off a tick mark doing that.
Cheers, Chris

I did a lot of cross checking with your thread on Jumbo's I think at one count I had about 12 tabs open and different levels of zoom 😁

Haha. Good eye Chris! I thought I've posted two different watches but they are the same!

A member here @Sturmvogel here did some research on this reference

According to his table "Officially Certified" for a 62 SC would be OK...

EDIT I agree that the font looks off

It’s the ‘stumpiness’ of the ‘Constellation’ that bothers me.

if you compare this to the cross hair version @westmtn posted, the Constellation is the normal proportion.
Then if you look at the upper text, the MOY relationship and ‘M’ style, which again differs to the cross hair version which (approx) follows the usual MOY test and has different Ms.

so either there were multiple dial suppliers for this ever-so-uncommon reference (unlikely) or this is a (pretty close) redial.

westmtn’s on top

Morning OF,

Just thought I would update that at the time of the OP I had also messaged the seller to ask specifically if this was a redial with my above queries around the font and missing markers etc.

Randomly I heard back this morning from the seller to say it was a tricky one...he thinks some of the lacquer has "peeled off" over time. But did offer for me to see it in person so he is quite open (not suggesting he is trying to hide anything).

This of course has just helped re-enforce for me that this was probably at one time a redial and is now suffering from such. Just thought I would update and share the recent communication from the seller.

I am in now way considering this by the way just wanted to share the update.

My desires for a Jumbo vintage have been recently fulfilled buy procurement of a Seamaster 2976 Jumbo so the Jumbo Connie can now become the long game for me 😀

Best wishes,
Dave
