Hi guys

New to the forum and would appreciate your insights to these watches.

I’ve been looking to get a constellation but not the most knowledgeable on all the different dials.

The seller has 2 and says the stainless steel one has rose gold indices is quite rare.
I thought these are supposed to have the octagonal crowns but this has a signed round crown but he says it’s original.

He’s looking for $2700aud for it.

And the gold capped one for $2500aud.

Just wanted to see if this is all original and if they are appropriate prices so I can choose one to purchase.

Cheers

Both are polished, I like the SS better. Rose gold indices are nice but I wouldnt say rare.
Crown on SS definitely not original, I believe either octagonal or thin scalloped crowns can be original.
Id say prices are 30-50% high

I also like the SS with gold furniture more, although the crown is not original and the case is too polished for my liking. At the asking price I wouldn't be a buyer.

Prices are moderate to high bricks and mortar dealer prices for the condition in AU, very high for private sale prices. They're a bit too polished for my liking too.

Appreciate the insights guys. I was leaning towards the ss as well but was pretty skeptical about the crown, even though seller assured me it was original. Will give them a miss then.
Just started my vintage journey and have bought a couple of GS and KS and hoping for a nice constellation soon.
I just love the smaller dials and watches feels like they have much more character.
Thanks again guys

I agree with all the points above - these watches are ok for someone who simply wants a vintage watch but have been ruined for a collector.

Also the seconds hand on the 14393 is a replacement (too long)

It's not.
Agreed with the above, would pass on those.
Stick around and keep an eye on the sales sections here 😉

I think the SS one may be a redial? The marker on the minute track below the 12 hour index is horizontal, when it should be vertical like the rest of them. Looks very out of place to me.

Cosmetically the watch looks very nice. The case back has a “62”, which means it was manufactured around 1962.

However, the movement has a 24M serial number that would put it around 1966 to 1967. So it looks to me like the movement may have been replaced (or at least some parts have been replaced). This may make it more difficult to sell if you want to move it on later.

The price you paid (about USD 1,500) is reasonable in the current market.

This is not a collector grade watch, but it was not priced as one.

Hope this helps,

Indeed, it's always a little hard to tell with lighting in photos, but it almost appears that the parts in the movement are a mix of colors, some gilt, some copper.
