·I’m offering for sale a pretty nice and fully original early 60s Constellation. It was a "by-catch", as I bought it for the bracelet it came with. Solid 18k rose gold Constellations with a pie-pan-dial don't come up for sale too often, so I figured I'll check if it might find a new home here. Unfortunately, with a few recent arrivals, I cannot keep it myself.
The Watch
Omega Constellation Automatic
Reference: 14381
Movement: cal. 551 Chronometer certified
Serial: 177334xx
Year: 1960
Case: ~34.5mm, solid 18k rose gold
Dial: original, two-tone pie-pan configuration with rose gold furniture
Strap: Dark brown leather strap, which, if I'm not mistaken, I got from a fellow OF user. I think it was "upcycled" from a luxury lady's handbag.
Condition
Super sharp, patinated, all original.
Dial & Hands: Completely original pie-pan dial with a brushed silver outter ring and a champagne colored center. All the text is fully there, the "missing line" configuration (no "officially certified") correct for a 1960 14381. Solid rose gold furniture, as is to be expected from the 18k case. Lume aged beautifully. The center of the dial has developed a warm patina, which looks a bit like parchment in the close-ups. I guess the patina is what'll split people: If you like it, it's a great example. If you prefer a mint dial, this one isn't for you. I can't find any deterioration on the hands of the indices.
Case: Original 34.5mm solid 18k rose gold case in very sharp condition. The bevel on the bezel is very present, the edge where the lugs meet the case are hardly rounded at all. If you're wondering what I'm referring to:
The medallion is also very pronounced. There is a small, not too deep "idiot mark" on the caseback from a failed opening attempt. Otherwise, it's in very good shape indeed, although it's hard to depict due to reflections.
Crown: Original Omega crown, correct flat feet logo and style for an early 14381. It's a nice bonus, as finding a replacement example in rose gold will be quite the task.
Crystal: Original Omega plexi with a few scratches. I haven't polished it, but it can be done as the scratches aren't too deep. No cracks, so it's perfectly usable.
Movement: Original cal. 551 automatic in very clean condition, rotor moves well and freely. Service history is unknown, so as usual I'd recommend one prior to regular wear. It does keep good time and has a good time reserve, though. The seller said he had his watchmaker clean, oil and adjust it, but there's no receipt for that, so take it with a grain of salt.
Box & Strap: The 50s/60s "generic" Omega box you can see in the pictures is included. It's how I got it. For the strap, as mentioned above, a dark brown leather strap made from a luxury lady's handbag. I quite like the idea and dark brown and rose gold is a classic combination. Comes on a generic clasp. If you'd like a different strap, please do ask. I might have a couple to choose from.

I’m also happy to provide verification through my eBay-account that has been standing for 20 years, with >2000 reviews, 100% positive. Please do ask.
Payment, Shipping & Returns
Payment is accepted via PayPal F&F, bank transfer, Wise or cash in person. Happy to meet you for a personal transaction, of course. Coffee’s on me.
I find this hard to price with it being rose gold, commanding a premium over YG Connies. The case is lovely, yet the patinated dial has to be factored in. So I'm asking
2500€
The watch is located in Germany. Tracked shipping is usually
6€ nationally
12-14€ within the EU/GB/Switzerland
~15-50€ to the rest of the world
Happy to ship wherever, get in touch and I'm sure we can figure something out.
No returns please, unless I misrepresented the watch in any way.
If there are any questions, please do reach out. And, as always, thanks @OF for the space!
Here are some pictures. While writing this, I've realized that my iPhone must have been unhappy with the contrast of the rose gold and the black background, resulting in some weird lighting issues. Feel free to ask for more.
And here are some close-ups
The sharp medallion:
Pronounced serifs, as it should be. Note the "parchment"-look of the dial.
The contrast of the brushed silver on the outside to the warm, champagne-colored inside of the dial.
Nicely aged lume in the hands:
That's the Omega logo you want on a watch from 1960
Clearly visible and sharp bevel on the bezel
