Somebody seems to be drumming up a bit of a frenzy about these objects.

What's going on 😒

That's what I sense, too. 😉

I have to agree.

Compare it to the other dials like the one owned by baoquang, and the Neptune where the cloisonne wire is of constant width throughout its length and the enamel sections nicely and clearly defined, even in the other "ARAMCO" pictured.

Its called Polychrome enamel also known as cold or soft enamel. The process of applying Polychrome enamel is the same the only difference there is no baking in the oven. When Polychrome enamel applied it gets to sit till dry.

Just my opinion, but that is not an enameled dial. Enamel would not scratch in the way that it appears in the eBay photo and there are gouges below the surface that have not been filled in. The 9:00 marker has been handled clumsily in some tweezers - so it has definitely been off the dial at some stage.

Jim has a good point about the wire, but I would go further and suggest that it is just gold paint.

Personally, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

+ 1. i`d never, ever buy something like this from pics. only. you have to handle this personally or with an auction house, where you can reverse the deal. and if i must sell this on ebay, i`d expect an omega exerpt with it. the quality is absolutely sub standard..... kind regards. achim

Is jls the seller of the eBay watch ?

Seller on eBay is from North Hollywood, the IP address of jls is 12 minutes away from North Hollywood according to geoip, so yea, that would be him. Would have been something good to disclose.

You guys could probably smell it a bit, was a lot of defence work on a watch that didn't deserve it.

Cool. It's more fun to expose them for the snake oil salesmen they are and then watch the bullshit excuses fly anyway!

I may be wrong about the process, but I've still heard nothing about provenance. The case reference is different than the AQ example.

Jls/jjs please explain.

Haven't visited this thread since yesterday morning - really highly amusing that someone could be naive enough to make a bee-line directly to the most well-informed community of Omega collectors to try to shill a weak piece like that. Like going directly to the Diamond Exchange with cut glass. He'd have stood a better chance in Bienne.

Yea, I had to smile when reading the first page and seeing those two images posted as examples, the first has baoquang 's watermark on it and the second has mac_omega 's.

And using watermarked pictures without prior request/approval...:whipped:

BTW my cloisonne enamel watch is with extract of archive from Omega describing the dial in full 👍

I appreciate the education on this watch. I am not an Omega collector and saw this watch and thought it was interesting based purely on the dial (albeit in rough condition). Based on the collective feedback, I will be passing on this opportunity as I do not possess sufficient knowledge about Omega watches. I am however, an avid collector of antique automatons with a focus on singing bird boxes; I restore them as my early retirement hobby. This eBay seller has very good feedback on eBay but it appears that some forum users do not trust him. Why is that? Thank you for your wisdom. Kind regards, Troy Duncan from Minnesota. If anyone is curious what a singing bird box is, here is my website that I just created. I assume it is OK to include a link to my website? If not, I apologize.

Troy,

We don't know him. All we know is that he showed up on the forum pretending to be an interested bystander and began to talk up the watch, which in fact he was selling. That's called shilling, and it is not generally considered the behavior of a trustworthy person.

Yea that's fine to post the link. The reason for the distrust is the fact that after several collectors came out saying they had problems with the watch, instead of saying that he was the seller of it and then defending it, he created an account to argue in favour of it and "educate" people without disclosing that. The term typically used is astroturfing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astroturfing). If he'd started out saying "I'm the seller of this watch and this is what I think regarding these issues" people would have had a very different reaction.
