Hiya, Im on the hunt for one of these, very happy to have patina but id prefer one with minimal polishing and and original dial.

    Cheers

Verily thou art a gentleman! ... movement looks like it has had a hard life but I like the rest.

Im guessing around $500 as value, or could it be higher?

I can see a bidding war erupting over the dial. It is in better condition than most of this era and it is the "Scientific" pattern, which collectors love.

The key to this one is that it that the cosmetics haven't been butchered too badly. One could easily find a movement of the same vintage to swap out (or raid for better parts).

I think your estimate is close to the final price. But with auctions, anything is possible.

Use Gixen.com, enter your maximum price, and walk away.

I see no reason to place multiple bids on eBay auctions. It's like playing poker, then showing everyone else your cards.

If your bid is highest, you will win. If not, then you won't.

Gixen works very well. Helps me make more rational bids and avoid last minute auction fever..

And, you can still "go ashley" , which in OF terms means...

It's good for two reasons Matt, you can commit to your max limit, and then go and forget about it.

You don't lose because you forgot to make a last minute nibble at some ungodly hour of the night if the auction is somewhere on the other side of the planet. You might lose if somebody wants it as much as you do and their wallet and balls are bigger.

$6 is a cup of coffee and a donut!

Up over $1K with a couple of hours left.

Nothing too exciting, a 4 yo Golf TDI, been thinking about downsizing for a while from my 4 door wrangler.
Colleague got offered a crap trade in on her golf so I got it for a pretty good price, esp given it is top spec and has 30k on the clock.
Plam is to sell the wrangler which will pay out the car loan and the Golf and leave me somewhere around 5-8k in hand and put about 9k a year into 'available funds' .... laughs maniacalliy like 'the count'

Or, worse yet, you may win because you've had more rum than the rest!

Good deals seem to come and go pretty regularly,
Bad deals seem to never leave.
