Omega Cioccolatone: Two Numbers in c.1950s Case! Can't Tell Model or Serial Number

Dating Omegas reliably is best done from the movement serial number, which is not the same as any case serial which may be present. I don’t see that listed in this thread so I wouldn’t be too certain on the 1956 date as yet. Post some more pics of the movement with the rotor in different places.

I was able to get the movement serial number and matched that in the Omega database. I don't have the pic right here, though. Thanks!

I´m agree, fonts/legends "Omega" and "Automatic" looks like badly repainted.

Thanks! Sharper eyes than mine. I also just realized that "Swiss Made" is missing as well. I guess that makes it easier for me to make decisions on what to do next.

For those wondering about the serial number..

Since the face apparently has been altered at some point and the value no longer relies on it, where would you find a replacement face? I might as well get one that looks great.

The movement serial suggests approximately 1957. Regarding the dial, you can search for a replacement using the reference number of the watch, or just search for square/rectangular Omega dials and use the dimensions of yours to compare. Another option is to buy a parts watch with a better dial. In either case, it's an obscure model, so it could take a long time to find one, but you never know, something could pop up at any time.
