Thank you. That will affect the watches value won't it?

Unfortunately yes, a shame about the dial because these are pretty uncommon watches!

Thank you for all your help.
I am asking because the watch is part of an inheritance, and it was given an estimated value of of 10.000€.
I am trying to establish if I should keep it (paying my share of the inheritance to the estate) or if I should let it go.
Given the refinished dial I am now doubtful, although it is 18k gold.

That valuation is wildly high by over four times.

In as is condition value would be closer to $1500-2000 US.

Yes, I agree this is far more accurate a value. $10k is ridiculous.

Thank you, with that info I will certainly pass on the watch......and hope one of the other heirs wants it!

$13,000 (€10,000) is that much more ridiculous!

What a shame about the dial. The crown is also incorrect, but by comparison with the dial this is a minor detail. The movement looks rather tired, but can probably be rescued. The case and movement numbers fit into my table's later batch of 2500 JUB watches very well, which is where we would expect to find a Centenary with an engraved back and the 2500 reference punched inside.

Because the run of 2500 JUBs was only 4,000 watches in total, this thread highlights just how rare it must now be to find examples in truly fine condition.

By the by - is this one yellow gold or rose gold? It's hard for me to tell on my monitor, but it falls within the batch that were RG cased in my table.

Excellent! It's quite fun to be able to use my table as a predictive model

P.S. It would also be nice to know which country the watch was delivered to, if you have that information.

I met a friend today to buy a rose gold 18K bumper, he's been keeping it for me a little while, met at services, absolute stunner it was, french made 18K RG case which would have passed for night new. Bought it, popped home, made a call to check the authenticity and origins and then got feedback the dial was redone.

Needless to say drive back to the same service station and refund three hours later, sigh

On a plus note my call to switzerland did end up with a very positive outcome for another reason, which I will share when it arrives

Without trying to sound too covert: not exactly, but I have a mate who can offer some unique advice and guidance who is somewhat uniquely placed ;)
