    hey friends.

    I have a problem with an cal.751
I think that issue belongs to a new thread.

The second hand doesn‘t move constantly and smooth. But the time goes on constantly.

The second hand seems to be relaxed and trembles.

    Do anyone knows the problem?

    Thanks

Probably a cannon pinion issue. Very common. A good watchmaker should be able to sort it out quickly.

    To quote Al:

"The movement uses an indirectly driven sweep seconds pinion, and this design can be a bit jumpy if the friction spring is not adjusted properly or is damaged.

This is a simple adjustment for any competent watchmaker to make, but only if the watch has had a fairly recent service. If it hasn't been serviced in several years, it's probably worth getting that done, and the friction spring will be addressed as part of that service.

    Cheers, Al"

You asked if anyone knows the problem. You’ve described the problem. You’ve had descriptions of what might solve the problem, so that question has been partially answered. You’ve asked “what should it cost, max?” A watchmaker will have to have a look at the watch before you’ll have an answer to that question.

Yeah you are right. But I want to figure out, if 20 oder 200 is the house number. But I agree that this is a stupid question.

Not a “stupid question!” Just a question that can be answered only by someone knowledgeable taking a look at it.

The highlighted area in your image has nothing to do with the symptom you describe. The entire automatic winding module would have to be removed in order to see the tension spring in question. The symptoms you describe are more of an annoyance than a serious problem. You might delay doing anything about it until you decide it is time that the watch needs a full service. A full service should include reconditioning, replacing the mainspring, and possibly replacing crown, gasket, and crystal. The tension spring issue should be solved as part of the service. Do you know the service history of the watch? Tolerating the jerky sweep seconds hand would cost nothing. A full service? Depends on what is needed and where you live.

Thank you! The watch is recently serviced by the seller (know collectors shop in Berlin/Germany). But I don’t believe him after visiting the shop personally. The price dropped from Euro 6800 to 4500. I asked for the best price without warranty. And that disturbs me now. Otherwise the watch was in amazing condition. Probably never polished. Sharp design and original finish. But 4500 is also about 1k over goldprice. And how the hell the seller makes a profit at that price?

Either my eyes are not working correctly this morning, or there is something very wrong about the numbers in this post. This price is insane. And where did you get this information about the value of the gold? It's completely wrong.

The gold value is (without movement 129gr x 0,75 x 35,60€) 3444 Euro and this is the spot price. Best price between 3200-3300 Euro.

Why am I wrong at the goldprice?

The price is insanse anyway and that disturbs me :) how he makes profit?

Maybe he bought it in mid-2000’s when gold was $400 an ounce?

How would he make a profit at 1k over the gold price? Depends whether the price he paid was actually based on the price of gold, or possibly the scrap value if the watch was to be liquidated. The dealer reduced the price by €2,300.00, so you certainly saved enough on the purchase price of the watch to allow you to have the pulsing seconds hand issue attended to.

Yeah you are totally right but the asking price is one thing but on the other hand the market value is about 800€ - 1500€ for the watch. I want to figure out if the issue with the second hand is the reason for that „bargain“ and the scraps in the highlighted area in the picture doesn’t look nice :)

Anyway Thanks to all for giving me input

I will think about it. We have an agreement about the watch in working condition for 4500€
