Omega cal 511 real 18k or shop self-plating?

Hi, I just got gifted this wired vintage omega which looked really fantastic, but by comparing the database from omega website, and my little research, this model didnt produce in 18k but stainless steel. I am wondering if it is a legit mod from omega at that time? Any suggestions will be appreciated, thanks!

Appears to be 18k. The vintage Omega database is not complete.

Not complete, and in some cases not accurate, but it's the best reference of that category we have.

Not remotely. As you have found it often shows only one example of a case ref which may have several case metal options and perhaps dozens of dial variations.

Not complete, and in some cases not accurate, but it's the best reference of that category we have.
I have the feeling that it actually was more comprehensive before they shut it down and converted it to the newer format. I don't remember exactly when that was, but some time 5-10 years ago. More photos, more information, more examples.

Good point. The reboot happened not long after the legal action for the $3m dodgy Speedmaster and the shut down of the extract system and some information was stripped out. This suggests to me that they feared that there had been tinkering with the OVD to perhaps lend credence to some Franken or rarity. I seem to recall all movement data and most of the pictures disappeared for a while.

Yes, I think so too.
There was a mirror of the original site on Naligizone (or something like that) but it went down a few years ago as well.

The main reboot was several years before that, IIRC. However, I think you are right that they removed some information at that time, maybe it was caliber information.

No. They removed information about original pricing and availability of other case metals.
