    Hey guys,

Need some guidance about this vintage Omega cal. 420.
Are the dial, case, hands, bezel original?
The movement looks fine to me, but is it?
The seller already mentioned about the heavily scratched glass.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

Lovely example well aged, sharp case: looks really nice to me.

Yeah I recently had to buy two Cal 420s as wedding gifts for a friend. Not an expert at all after that week of researching, but I'd personally consider buying this if I were in the market for one

Text is same as a honeycomb 265 I used to have (see below). Only thing I'd want to see better is the lugs, for sharpness

it looks rather honest. A bit of tarnishing on the movement but due to the age.

How scratched is it? If it’s an original crystal, is it something that a bit of toothpaste and some elbow grease wouldn’t sort out? If not then a replacement shouldn’t break the bank.

I've the same reference in steel. The one you're considering is nicer.

Mine runs well after servicing. Calibers 410/420 are odd ducks, but parts are still available, so you won't be stuck with a white elephant if the movement needs renovation.

That's a very good looking watch.. I like the lug style, the dial and especially the hour markers.

You can have the original crystal polished by a good watchmaker if it's original (not the watchmaker, the crystal :D )

My local watchmaker has a cal 420 Omega for sale. I’m new to vintage Omega. What makes it an odd duck? Are these a 1950s watch?

sorry for resurrection of a zombie thread.

Can you post photos? Preferably all angles and movement / inner caseback photos, too.

I don’t have all those photos yet. It’s in a display case. I’m specifically wondering about the comment earlier in the thread about the 420 being an odd duck.

Just not one of the more common movements, nothing wrong with them.

Do be aware that references with this movement tend to be on the small size, < 34mm.

    Ref 2722 - 32.6mm

I think what I like best about the OP’s watch are the indexes

    never seen that design before
