So, I am interested in one and I love 2 register models. Does this seem right: https://www.ebay.com/itm/OMEGA-CAL-...N-ACCIAIO-1964-OTTIME-CONDIZIONI/283295791014Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network What is this model called? It's not a Seamaster and it's not De Ville, right? Ref 101.009
Not a Seamaster, as there is near zero water resistance. https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/watch-omega-other-omega-st-101-0009 No model name according to Omega. gatorcpa
Love it. It's interesting that they don't even come with dust caps, so how bad is the lack of dust/water proofness?
Hmm... not so sure about that. I know of only a small number in good nick - mine, one ‘down under’(@dsio ), yours, one that sold a while back on OF and a watch like mine that made a brief appearance on the forum. However, try to find one for sale and the dials are all knackered. (And they’re still asking silly prices). Or repainted. So I don’t think too many survive unscathed.
The water resistance of the square pusher models in particular is extremely poor, they are not even dust-proof so even hand washing or humidity can damage the dial and movement. It just happens that some of the dials have that sort of metallic like finish that seems to be relatively resilient compared to other dials.
Perhaps some customization is possible to enhance water resistance? I mean how the hell have these watches survived for 50-60 years?
That looks like a 33 mm flat pusher model for which I've never seen a model name on the dial. I had a cal 321, 3 register version of one of these in the past. No model name on the dial exc pt for the Omega brand and logo. Cheers
There's not that much that can be done because O-rings are round and the pushers are square, that's pretty much the problem so there's just an air gap between the pushers and case which is why the internal pusher pieces (unsure the technical term but the pieces that the pusher you touch screws into can rust away to nothing like they did on mine.
Here's mine . I bought it for my partner but she doesn't wear it, she prefers the far more expensive Breguet 3237 ( how do they know ? ). I think it is a pretty watch and surprisingly has wrist presence. I keep meaning to sell it but somehow it ends up back in the safe !
Any suggestions on where to find more info about these chronographs? I could not find any books neither, but as I've seen so many nice gold models now... need more.
Right. I get it. But there are many newer watches with the same pushers style and they are water resistant. Of course, they might have different case design etc.
