Hello all, I have recently acquired an smp 300 with cal 1120, just wondering based on your experiences if the watch is in need of a service?
Pictures attached and thanks in advance.

I think you have already had a learned opinion on this question in your other thread. Yes both the amplitude and beat error are poor and I would say based on that pic that it does need a service. A healthy 1120 would have an amp nearer 300 in most orientations.

Hello @padders yes I thought it would have been better to create a thread for only the issue with the movement, I will try to be more contained in one post next time, thanks for your reply.

Maybe you should buy a new timegraper first 😉

I don't know if that affects the results...

TBH even this results I would wear the watch without service especially if you have a 'watch rotation'

I have that model and it is a good idea to put tape over the metal clamp on one side otherwise it can scratch cases. No it shouldn't affect the results IMO.

The timgrapher is new, I put the tape not to scratch the watch 😀
This SMP will be my primary watch, so I think it would be best to have SPA time

Does Omega still officially support cal 1120? I think the Peter Blake that has this movement was discontinued in 2009.

That’s good. I think Onega are supposed to support for 20 years and the cal 1120 parts are not all interchangeable with ETA 2892

This is from the Omega Working Instructions.

So what you can see wrt amplitude is that it should be above 200 in all positions 24h after full wind. If the above pictures were taken at full wind, you probably won't make 200 after 24h.
Beat error is a little high in 1-2 positions.
The rate can be adjusted easily, of course, and your delta (max variation in rate between positions) isn't too bad.

Likely time for a service.

That is the official policy, but in practice it is much, much longer.

For example, right now every part needed to service the 550/560/600/750 series of movements are still available, and they have been discontinued since the 70's.
