Hey guys, I am going to be buying a watch from the Omega boutique store but needed your opinion on a possible error. The watch is a limited edition watch that usually has the words “limited edition” and “xxx/3000” on the caseback. This is a new watch. The thing with this watch is that it does not have the “xxx/3000” on the caseback. I talked to the store manager and they would be willing to write a letter that says that it’s an error and it should have had the numbering on the back. The paperwork such as the warranty card and all has the numbering. Questions: Is it advisable to buy a watch if it has such an error? Will the letter help? I don’t care about resale value as I want to keep it for a while but if my financial health or job goes then I will need to be able to sell luxury items so as long as it doesn’t lose more value than a similar “numbered” watch then I’m fine. Thanks, T
It’s a Speedmaster. It’s at an Omega store so it should be legit. Paperwork has the “xxx/3000” on it, just the caseback does not. Don’t know if this will impact resale value if I ever need to liquidate luxury items for bills.
It’s a Speedmaster. Can you explain what that means when you said it’s very wrong? Is it so bad that I should avoid?
Hmmm... even though purchase is for a new watch at an Omega store? I mean I highly doubt they would sell me a fake. Am I missing something? If I have the letter from the store that says that this watch is a legit/authentic watch and that it came without the “numbers” from the factory and the “numbers” on the letter match the “numbers” on the paperwork, does it matter?
Of course it matters. You are buying a watch, not papers, and I think you should ask why Omega would sell you a numbered watch without numbers. Makes no sense, in fact the whole story is hard to swallow. A future buyer would be even more skeptical of the letter and the papers. Just use your common sense and put yourself in the position of a future buyer.
This is the big question. Which LE speedmaster has 3000 pieces but would still be available new in an OB?
Oh sorry, I missed this. It’s the apollo 17, 40th anniversary edition. Sorry, what an OB? It’s in original box, new, with tag, sticker and warranty card.
Closest would be the CK 2998, I know of no LE with 3000 pieces. I'm always suspect of brand new members asking those sorts of questions, my troll meter goes off.
Sorry, not trolling. The “xxx/3000” was supposed to just visualize how it appears on the caseback and NOT the actual LE number of the watch.
Ok even if this was the case, I don't think these have been available new in Omega Boutiques since 2012 or 2013.
There is no speedmaster with 3000.... Case should be marked. Can you confirm with picture which it is?
