Hello! What do you think , is this dial genuine? Watch Genuine? It looks "washed" and the Omega logo does it look ok? It is from the 1950s right? Is the crown ok to the watch? Other things to consider before maybe buying it? it is big size about 36mm big and very nice feel to it, backcase looks a little bit polished.. and the seller says it is not that easy to remove, dont know why?
https://omegaforums.net/threads/learn-how-to-fish.52603/#post-637477 It looks completely normal. While it is "big" at 36mm, it is more or less the standard size for 30mm movement-equipped Omegas of that age (mid-fifties). The lume looks very nice indeed and the crown is original. Movement-wise these are quite uncomplicated and parts should be abundant - these were produced in very large numbers. I can never remember what reference these are (2639?), but it is a solid buy at the right price.
The seller wants about 530Euro so i will think twice, this is the look i want: (picture borrowd from google)
I do not like the dial on the first watch. The hour markers are off and the Swiss Made looks wonky. That could be diffraction caused by the crystal but it's not great anyway, what with the hands being the wrong length, the case back being severely battered and (I think) the wrong crown.
Edward, you are wrong on all pretty much all accounts. The case back is worn, but that I have come to think of as being the norm with these. Perlon straps were big at one point, it would seem
FWIW, the price is not unrealistic. It is not serviced, is it? If so, I would call it a pretty good deal.
Hmm.. Not being dogmatic here, just venturing an opinion. The hour markers at 4, 5, 7 and 8 don't seem to align. Obviously I can't actually prove the Swiss Made is wonky, it just looks off to me. The hour hand is on the minute track but the minute hand extends right to the edge of the dial. Aren't they supposed to just reach the minute track? Or is it like the MOY test, one of those things that always applies except when it doesn't?
The crown is correct. The minute hand does overreach the index on these - it's one of those exceptions you have to be aware of (have a look at the other one posted by SW4323) when assessing if the hands are correct. It is even emulated on the much smaller ladies version. The Swiss Made is correct. Some of the markers look a bit off, but that is it. It could be down to manufacturing tolerances or it could be because they've been reattached at some point, but it is not a certain indicator of that. Also, the lume on all markers are consistent and had one come loose, I'd expect the lume to have been knocked out.
Nice I used to have this one: Note that there are at least three different references here - the one I've posted didn't even have a screw-down back! Even so, it's a "Seamaster" I only write this so the OP hopefully realises that he shouldn't focus too much on that little word, but instead find as good a watch he can, be it labelled Seamaster or not
Woohoo! I got the reference right Apart from odd colour on some of the screws (??) I don't see anything obviously wrong...
