Omega Automatic Seamaster Calendar best guess 1956 ? unique face

This Omega Seamaster Calendar stands out due to its unique rectangular 9 o’clock marker and the absence of "Swiss Made" at the bottom of the dial.

Finally got my hands on a mid to late 50s Seamaster calendar.
The hour hand is deflected upwards and is dragged around by the second hand.
But it seems to run well though. I’m so happy it has the sea horse on the back of the case.
I don’t think it’s the screw down one.
The ones I have found that are similar feature a 5 sided “pointed rectangle "This one is a 4-sided diamond at 9 o’clock. I’m guessing 1956-58. If it were earlier say 1955 the date would be on the bottom.
I’m loving the two tone look and the “Spidel” style strap is perfect and very comfortable. I dont think it original.
Does anybody have info on this watch. A digital Catalogue download of 50’s omegas would be nice.

Unfortunately, the dial has been poorly repainted. The fonts are sloppy and wrong and the printing is totally misaligned. The hands are all mismatched. You may want to consider returning it if possible.

It was free to me. The dial still has tritium dots.
I guess they worked around then or maybe they were redone too. Best guess is that the 9 marker is a 4 sided “diamond off of a constellation.
Also there isn’t a Swiss made at the bottom and there doesn’t appear to have been one either based on the tritium dot : there would be no space.
So is it possible that this was a translational prototype thing.?

Negative.
It looks like it was the first dial this person attempted to refinish. You have a project watch. If it runs, start looking for replacement hands and a dial. It'll be fun. Keeps you out of the bars. Up late nights scouring the web.

I guess this what it should look like.

Do you think the 9 marker isn’t original?

9:00 marker does not match.
The Seamaster Calendar dials are out there. Should be a good project.
Have the case opened and make sure everything is correct inside. You'll have fun. Who knows, it might lead you down the path of vintage Omegas.

The only nice thing on that watch is the large Seahorse on back.

Yeah, a lot of these old Seamasters are real beauties. The color of the dial on that one is just sumptuous.

The fact it has toothpaste coloured blobby tritium dots is another indication of the redial. This watch was made before Omega used tritium. The hour hand look to still have the original radium lume. Not sure what’s going on with the skinny minute hand which doesn’t but should have.
