I have the 39mm which at times I think looks too big, think the 36mm would be perfect. Didn’t even know it existed, must have been a very limited production run / Asia only?

Don't forget, back when these came out, larger diameters where in style. The 36mm was probably overlooked and from what I gather the model was all together not super popular. I love and would never sell my 2504.52

The 36mm Railmaster is really perfect. Received mine yesterday and it’s what I’ve missed without knowing.
A very good addition to my Seamaster 300 Master.

Its a Classic! I love that spartan dial and hand set, maybe even more than my 2254. Size is just perfect.

I think the biggest issue buying this watch from Japan is the same as buying it anywhere online. The issue comes down to the sharpness of the case. It is super hard to judge from the pictures if the case is sharp or soft and the case doesn't take polishing wheel well at all. Otherwise, Japanese are quite forward about the condition.
Sorry for the very, very late comment 😀 but I have hardly seen any RM36 on ch24 coming from Japan . Most of them were in EU or US. Concerning polishing theses cases still look ok or "decent" even after a slight polish because the lugs are quite fat from factory, contrary to an old rolex case for instance. My rm36 has had some polish by omega and although i can see it it doesnt look butchered.

These don't show up very much in general (in the last few years anyway) Mine didn't come from Japan (when I bought it) but the hang tag is in Yen. As I stated earlier (and this is my theory) When this watch was released, the style of the time was large diameter wrist watches. US and Europe would have gone for the larger offerings while the 36mm would have suited the smaller wrists better in places like Japan.
