    Hi all ,
In order to upgrade my small Omega collection I'm considering a Speedmaster 3592.50 cal 863 , serial number 48.269.xxx , sapphire display case back with Apollo XI engraved on it . I still waiting some pictures and tomorrow will meet the owner . The watch is full set , gray leather box , outer box with red Speedmaster writing . In case I will part my 1861 Speed from 2002 .
What you think about ? Is it worth it to be added ?..and sacrifice my Speed 1861? Last but not less important , which could be price range if really as the seller (private collector) has described it?
Thanks for your suggestions and will add pictures as i receive.

First off, I think they are both fine watches with ever so slight nuances. The 3592 has Tritium markers on the dial and hands which over time turns to a beautiful cream and sometimes orange patina. This, to most collectors is very highly desirable vs. luminova dial & hands which is what your 2002 Speedmaster has. Additionally, the movement has been somewhat modified for the 863 to make it more "appealing" to see through the sapphire caseback.

In terms of price, it all depends on condition and service history. I would think it should run in the $3k-$3.6k range.

    Good luck with your search.

Hi ATWG , tritium dial and hands is what making me ponder the purchase , seller said is in lovely warm patina but just pictures can confirm..about movement have red shuold be Golden/gilt colour and cote de Geneve finish and all metal parts instead delryn , featured in 861 movement .A further jewell should be added to 863...isn't it ?
    Thanks for your replay

Amazing piece. If the price is right, I will go for the trade.

I am eagerly waiting for my speedmaster too.

Go for it ! One of the rare ref with plexi glass and saphir caseback... Plus you have tritium hands/indexes, nice decorated movement, etc... nothing to compare with a 2002 Speedy

Mine is NOS :whistling:, never worn...:whistling::whistling::whistling:

Ok I see. Mine is a 3592.5000 from 1994, movmt 48272xxx. It is a reference made for the 25 years anniversary of Apollo 11. 69 + 25 makes 94. Ref 345.0808 is a similar reference, so how come it can be from 1988 ???

So I am not worried about the reference, but about the date...

Someone who has the MWO book could confirm this

48272XXX do not match with 1994...
That what i found today and should be taken from MoonwatchOnly....
Ref. 34508.08 was released first time roughly in '85 and 3 more followed , so should exsist four editions

FIRST --1985 with sapphire caseback ,Apollo XI engraved on it , plexy glass ,"rose" colour 863 movement , only 999 pieces .Piece number engraved between lugs ;that first edition should be between serial 48.169.000 and 48.169.999 .

SECOND--1988/1989 copped/gold colour 863 ,sapphire display caseback , plexy glasss , "Professional" serif font ,dot beside "0" of 70 on the bezel , numbered edition ,(how many?) , 1450-805 / 1479-812 bracelet , serial 48.2XX.XXX

THIRD-- about same period of second but unnumbered ed. , gold colour 863 movement , cote Geneve finishing , sapphire caseback , plexy , ApolloXI engraved on casback , dot beside 70 on bezel , no accent mark on Tachimeter ,1479 bracelet .Serial from 48.25X.XXX and 48.315.XXX .

FOURTH--1994 /1997 , unnumbered edition , no Apollo XI engraved on casback (sapphire) , plexy glass , gold colour 863 movement (18 jewelles?) ,
both bezel (dot beside "0" and no accent mark or dot under "0" and accent mark on "e" ) , 1479 812 bracelet , serial 48.3XX.XXX and 48.35X.XXX ....

Hope someone could add info or pictures to confirm or upgrade ...Given that think the one i posted should be 3th generation....

Very interesting thanks a lot !!

    So yours is a 345.0808 and mine a 3592.5000... ?

I'll double check the warranty card date, serial number, backcase details and come back to you.

Will you then buy it ?

There is quiete lot of confusion about info on Apollo XI from 80's to 90's and also was surprised yesterday when reading that Speedmaster do not follow canonical serial number table i have been referring since now.
    Could anybody confirm?
Other question:has nobody of you seen this logo engraved on movement holder before? ..should be case maker identification but couldn t find info...maybe extra european market destination?
    Thanks

I can confirm mine (serial 48272XXX) was made in 1992, sold in 1994 and is a 3592.5000 ref

48mio serials have been produced for almost 10 years

Mine has the yellow decorated movement with Cotes de Genève

Did you buy it finally ?

I have a serious doubt about the warranty card above. Especially about the make year. :cautious:

Ordering an extract from Omega archives could help here.

    Here is my example :
