I got mine two nights ago. Given up hope long time ago but suddenly got a call last week. On a cheap nato strap for now. Ordered a Speedy Tuesday vintage strap to go with it.
My brother picked his up from his local Mapping & Webb store at the weekend. There was a list of c.10 of people wanting it. They contacted everyone by phone and the first person to get to the store with money in hand got the watch. He is delighted with it and it saves me having to sell him mine when the gold one comes along! Happy days!
Will you two stop bickering! There are plenty to be delivered including mine. Who cares what list he is on
Actually, we don't know how many more are to be delivered. We do know that the delivery has slowed down considerably since the initial flurry in July and August. I still think Omega is shooting to deliver all watches by the end of the year, but that is less than six weeks away so don't know if they will make it. Once Omega gets into full Christmas selling mode deliveries for pre-sold watches like the Apollo 11 may get pushed out in favor of 'new' customer sales.
correct we don’t know, but taking a guess from the bugger all everywhere on the net, we can assume that there are not that many in the wild. I suspect there will be some turning up well into next year. my AD (a biggish U.K. chain) has had none and there are 4 due for our region. I think as you say, crimbo mode and the million other watches they have released will possibly delay even further. It’s not like it is the first time it’s happened.....
Why do you think they are trying to deliver by year end? I would expect there is a relatively slim chance of that if however many are outstanding I think really are.... as you say, no one knows....
My mate was offered one today by an AD after he called in to look at another watch. Picked it up as a spur of the moment purchase. Said there's another unallocated 50th due in as well.
Because the hoopla over the 50th moon landing anniversary is over, and next year is the Tokyo Olympics and the next 007 movie. There is no upside trying to handle angry people waiting for the Apollo 11 watches from 2019 while you are trying to gear up for the 2020 Olympics and James Bond. They want these watches sold and in the hands of the new owners, post haste.
Fine, so we agree then.......the ‘hoopla’ has been over for a while I think.... One of omegas issues is they can’t deliver on time. If they could people would have snapped them up. Now, it’s yesterday’s watch unfortunately.....
I’ll be quite honest. I bought the Apollo 8 after putting a deposit down on this. My gut feel is that I will turn this down and keep the Apollo which I love. It would just be nice to see it in the metal so I can decide. I don’t care how long it bloody takes.
