I went through an alarm collecting phase. These are the examples that remain: Omega Memomatic 166.072 JLC Memovox E855 Anyone else have alarms?
Got a NOS case & dial for a Benrus Wristalarm that I found a donor movement and hands for recently. I'll get it to Steve one of these days so I can start wearing it. Got a Memovox E855 caliber 825 myself (as you already know from my WUS days):
These 2 for now. Do hope to add a vintage Deep Sea Alarm, Polaris 65 and 68, and the UN Sonata. But I will have to sell more than many watches.
Is there anyone else who's bought a watch knowing it was actually going to impact your quality of life for 2 weeks or so. I don't mind baked beans so I regret nothing but I'm curious as to whether I'm the only one.
My only remaining JLC is the Master Compressor Memovox... It's a great watch. I've worked on others of course - JLC, Benrus, Seikos, etc. Cheers, Al
Not so grand as Al's JLC, but here's another to add to the mix. Purchased by my father-in-law while in the Navy in the Pacific.
The E855 is 38mm diameter and 45mm lug to lug. I was able to find my example with the original strap and buckle
Indeed - where a lot of cheaper and vintage alarm watches make a buzzing sound (the hammer just hits the case or spacer ring) this one has a gong in the case back: It sounds very much like a school bell... Cheers, Al
