Hello I recently came into possession of this 8 day Omega clock and need some help in its identification etc.
Was this clock used in cars as a dash clock or some other use. What year was it made. I am keen to get the clock refurbished and any help would be appreciated I live near Melbourne Australia.

    Welcome Greg,

If the case is aluminium it would be an aircraft clock which was mounted in the instrument panel but as I can'r see any shock mounts I think it's a car clock. I've found a very similar item in my bible. As soon as my camera is charged I'll post more information.

That would make a nice desk clock mounted on a slab of red gum.

For restoration I would try Ferntree Gully Clocks http://www.ftgwatch.com.au/index.html

    Cheers

    Jim

Would you get this watch sympathetically restored on outer casing by polishing etc?

    No.

A clean with a spirit soaked rag to remove grease, oil, crud etc and maybe a very light polish with a silver cloth.

A "brand new" case with an aged dial and hands would look pretty, but it isn't how a nicely aged vintage timepiece should look.

Will need to see pics when it's finished.

PS: Sorry about the late reply, this one slipped of my radar.
