    Hi All,

Just joined here. I do watch repair to the trade and having trouble finding a spring. Seems like I'm seeing two different designs for the same spring. Or, maybe I'm not searching correctly. I've attached a photo of the one that looks just like the one I need. Is this one of those impossible to find parts? I tried a laser weld, but the weld was way to brittle for the amount of tension.

It's part 3201734, and is discontinued. It's shown on the 320 parts list...

I think cousins has generic ones though. In a pinch, it might do.

The ones from cousins are about $130!!! Haven't seen any on ebay yet, but I'm going to look awhile before I order one from Cousins.

Those are readily available from Omega for a lot less than asking price there!

Obviously......but if you're a normal consumer; which path to take to get the 1734 part?
I understand that the parts are still avaible but only for certified repair guys I guess. So what are the possibilities to get it?

Is it possible to modify some sort of replacement or is that an absolute no go?

you sure? we tried to buy a few last year; nothing left. did they remake them in the factory? this will be one of the very rare parts for caliber 321. if you can order them, i take 10 with plus 50% of your price. kind regards. achim

I think you are both confused about my reply above. If you look at the post I was replying to, it was for the hour hammer spring (1794) being advertised on eBay - those are readily available from Omega and far less than what the eBay sale was asking. As I've already said earlier in the thread, the hammer spring (1734) is long discontinued...

Since I am not allowed to sell parts, and Omega doesn't sell to normal consumers, the only way to get parts that Omega still sells is to take your watch to an Omega certified watchmaker who has a parts account, and they can supply and fit the parts as needed.

    Cheers, Al

So that's the only way then and thus beeing very unlucky to get the 1734. That's very disappointing as my watchmaker hasn't acces to the Omega Vaults.

For other seekers: the Cousin replacement 1734 part is also discontinued. Looks like there's more chance to win the lottery than finding the hammer spring.

Maybe a stupid question, but can a 320 movement work without the hammer spring or is it completely an end game?

Just to be clear, the 1734 is discontinued - no more available from Omega so having a parts account or not is moot in this case. I suspect if you send the watch to Omega, they can replace the spring - my gut tells me they keep stock for their own repair center that they won't sell to anyone else.

If the watch "works" or not depends on what you mean by that. The watch will run and keep time without the spring, but the spring is needed to reset the chronograph - it's function is to bring the hammer down on the cams of the minute and seconds recorder wheels to reset them to zero, and to hold them there.

    Cheers, Al

    Thx for the reply Al.
And yes....that was my question; will it work without the hammer. I guess the chrono will be functional with the start/stop but to reset it to zero is out the question....but keeping time and wearing it is no problem in this case ?
