    Hello,

I'm interested in this vintage Omega from 1942-1943. Case, movement and hands look good to me but the dial looks too perfect for a watch that is over 70 years old.

I'd appreciate any comments and concerns from folks who are well versed in vintage Omegas from this period, and thoughts on what would be a fair price for this piece.

    Thanks

I would say your hunch is right. Dial likely refinished.

This one is near the same age, but has a ratty original dial.

Runs very well and is a joy to wear.

I am not sure it is a redial.

I do not remember having seen this kind of hour numbers on 1940's cal 30, and the dial looks indeed very good, maybe too good.

But the Omega logo and scripts look good, as well as the subdial - and the latter is not so easy to redone. The overall quality looks very good, and if it is a redial I think it is a great one.

Moreover, we all know the dials of the 30 cal from the 1940's usually do not age that well. But the rest of the watch looks as good as the dial, which is a good sign.

To conclude, I would be glad to buy this watch - at the price of a redial!

In fact, hi-res pics would be helpful.

I saw it too but that dial just screams "don't buy it" to me

Thanks for the input folks. Looks like the watch sold already so won't have to think much about making this decision:)

The style of the numerals is unusual & looking at them on a vertical view they look less convincing. I agree with Hoi on this one.

I agree it is unusual. I have tried to compare with other watches of this model, but I could not find any on the net, or on
    the Omega database and Nagilazone.

I still think the quality is good - as far as I can tell from the pics - and I am still not sure it is a redial.

Erich @mac_omega may have some insight!

Factory refinish? Regardless the work is beautiful and someone has a nice watch.
