I don't believe that anyone can tell you "how rare" it is, as we don't have production numbers, but it is certainly an uncommon variation.

As to the value of the watch, well, that would depend on how much you value the dial. The case back is in poor condition, and that alone would stop some collectors, including myself, from paying anywhere near that price. The crown is also incorrect, but that would be fixable, unlike the case back.

Thanks for your reply..But regarding that crown I believe its correct one as I already have one 285 and seen few other..but you are right I also believe due to that less produced dial its extremely rare.. My other 285

I'm not sure that those two crowns are identical, but as I am not in any way an expert on those models, I am open to the possibility that the crown is correct.

As for the dial variation, however one chooses to describe it, rarity alone doesn't necessarily correlate to added value, and it doesn't appear to be in very good condition.

I'm not trying to discourage you from buying the watch, but if any of your enthusiasm is based on the notion that you have found something special, and therefore valuable, I would suggest that you may be missing the bigger picture.

“Rare” doesn’t necessarily mean valuable in the world of watches. This watch has been ridden hard and hung up wet. It’s all about condition.

I think $500 is a top price for that watch. Assuming it needs a service, it would be nearly impossible to get your money out of the watch should you decide to sell one day.

I am absolutely agree with you..I am buying it because I liked the dial and never seen it. But yes my question about "worth it" is quite vague ...it totally depend upon personal choice

The watch that you linked to would never sell for anything close to 1350 to a discerning collector. In fact, I doubt that it is actually "reserved". It is a ridiculous asking price for an obvious redial, with a poorly refinished case, and a movement in terrible condition. It isn't worth $200.

My friend is trying to sell his weekend house for 1 250 000 euros for 10 years, and he wonders why nobody wants to buy it for so long. In reality its worth maybe 500k. Same goes with watches and Chrono24. 🤨

Don’t believe everything you read. Besides, even if it were sold, I don’t believe Chrono24 is obligated to publish the actual sales price.

This is good reasoning IMO.

Then have fun and wear it in good health! Interesting dial! It kinda reminds one of Genta's Polerouter.. Cool.
