Been a long time lurker on the forum. Considering buying this watch. Seller wants 400$ firm.

It's an Omega 2635-5 with a gold capped case. Anything that I should look out for?

Looks legit to me. The condition of the dial will affect the value.

Thank you so much Dan for your input. The painted numerals on the dial alternating with the solid markers are a desirable contrast for me, as opposed to applied numerals and solid markers as seen on most other Omegas with this reference.

Also, is this what you would call an early Seamaster ( without the name on the dial of couse)? As I understand, I have seen some sellers refer to watches, without the Seamaster branding on the dial, as early Seamaster - ostensibly on account of those having movements and dials which Omega eventually used for the watches which later had the Seamaster lettering on the dial. (I am, what you call - a noob, when it comes to Omegas from this era).

Many thanks once again.

And yes, it's a nice dial design, it just has some condition issues.

Congratulations on such a beautiful watch! And thank you so much for answering my queries. I'd love to have a clean example like this too 😴💭

Hi, welcome to the forum.

My suggestion would be: keep this money and see if you can put a bit more into a much better example. You can probably have a much stronger condition for around double.

This one has serious condition issues. The dial may have seen some water ingress, or at the very least the « patina » is quite unattractive in my opinion. The case may even have a small hole in it.

The seller has its fingers all over the movement, which doesn’t look promising on this front, and it show quite a lot of wear on the bridge.

If you have to put a service into the watch soon, then it won’t sound so cheap anymore.

So I’d personally pass.

Just a noob question - how does one operate the crown on these? Is it a screwdown crown?

(I received the watch today and there is literally not the slightest gap between the case and the crown to pull it out)

You just pull the crown out. You may need to grip it with your fingernails.

Thanks to all the inputs here, I did pull the trigger on this Omega. Love the watch and the dial layout with painted numerals and the gold-capped case being the highlights for me.
