    Dear all,

This is my first post here, so hello to everybody!

I thought this could be the right place to present my Omega 2503-7 with cal 265. The serial number is 1170xxxx, so it is likely one of the first produced, around 1949. Still the dial is in perfect conditions. About the "swiss made" mark, my watchmaker told me it disappeared when replacing the previous glass, which was not the right size and touched the border of the dial. The Omega logo is also puzzling, since I could not find a similar one in watches from that period, but again my watchmaker told me it has the Singer stamp on the back.

    Your opinions are welcome!

The text, the uneven-spaced painted ticks around the metal 5-minute tick marks and the rough crosshair make me believe the dial has been repainted in the past. Otherwise, nice watch. Closer in focus pics of the dial would help a lot.

I don't see uneven spacing among the marks actually. And the case has quite sharp corners. Here is a closer pic of the dial.

The dial may have refinished - not sure because of the pics - but either way it does match this reference and this period. This design is rather for watches 10-15 years later.

The story about the glass erasing the "Swiss made" is very odd... I would rather think this dial does not belong to this watch.

Definitely a redial. The very minimalistic dial layout doesn't exactly scream late 40´s either. I am not sure that Omega used logos like that in the 40´s. They were mainly printed on.
The the case has also been polished a lot, it seems.

How much did you pay for it? Did you purchase it from the watchmaker, who provided you with the strange explanations regarding the dial?

    EDIT: And welcome! :)

With the last pic - which I had not seen when I wrote my first answer - I would say redial as well. And the design is clearly 10 years younger than the watch.

Singer Company created special order dials for Omega. These were available to customers who might wish to have a unique high end dial. Usually better quality than the standard Omega offered. Can't remember off hand where the location of the factory but France kind of rings a bell. Hence it is not unusual that Swiss Made would not be on a lots of Omega dials made in France or other countries. See if it has FAB FRANCE on the back.

Thank you. The watch is no longer with me, so I cannot check, unfortunately.
