Omega 2374 - Original Dial or Refinish? Wanting Honest Opinions

Hey everyone,

New to the forums, I’ve been a silent spectator for sometime now. However, I’m truly stumped on this one and a couple of my buddies and I would like to settle this.

Looking to get some honest insight from more everyone. I recently picked up this Omega Ref. 2374 with a Cal. 30T2 bumper. It’s a stunner in person, but I’m trying to get to the bottom of whether this dial is original or a redial from back in the day. I figured this forum is the best place to ask.

What raised the question for me (and one of my buddies) is the “Omega” particularly the “M.” On this dial, the legs are perfectly vertical, whereas most of the examples I’ve seen tend to have it splayed. Also, the logo looks a little thinner and softer around the feet and curves than others with the same reference.

That said, there are a few things that lean toward originality:
-There’s clear oxidation and spotting across the dial that looks consistent with the age and not artificially applied.
-The print is very sharp under macro and doesn’t show the fuzzy or floating ink effect you see in low-effort redials.

I found a very similar 2374 online with comparable aging and near-identical logo which made another friend of mine believe there were slight variations back then.

At the end of the day, I’m not trying to convince myself either way. Just want to get some real opinions. If anyone has a 2374 with a similar logo or has seen this variation before, I’d appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks again, photos attached below. Just looking to learn and get sharper on these.

PS: it’s fresh out the mail, a new crystal is necessary, and I do have the ability to return this 👍🏽

The photos are not the best, but I'm leaning towards an old redial, based on the OMEGA font, the skinny Omega symbol, and the weird printing in the sub-dial. Can you post a clear in-focus photo in good lighting?

I'm with Dan on this, a very old re-dial.
Back in that era, owners were thrilled see their just serviced watch with a lovely clean dial after restoration due to water ingress etc.

I would say that it is definitely a redial.

I don't consider my self an expert in Omega dials, just vintage watches per se but I would strongly lean toward that being an old redial for all the reasons given and the " it's just off" feeling I get from it.
