Guessing that watch saw a fair bit of moisture intrusion over its lifetime

"Restored" is often the bullsh::censored:: term a seller uses when they mean the original paint has been stripped and the dial has been refinished.

I don't like one thing about that watch other than it's 18k. Can't even say if it's a good parts movement either - a proper service would remove any surface goo, and there's plenty of corrosion on various parts.

Dam your correct. I did not even pay attention to the movement. What tipped you of to the refinish? Was it that it was just to new looking? Is there something else that is off?:eek:

Well, I am no expert, but the 'I' numerals at 4 and 8 are not parallel to one another for one thing. None of the black indices look really crisp, for another

One very good indicator is that the hour indices are patinated, but the dial itself is not.

    I must respectfully disagree.
I have had a NOS Patek pocket watch with oxidized Breguet numbers while the surface of the dial was perfect.
I have also a NOS Omega in my possession witch shows the same...

Depends how the lacquer on the dial withstood over this long period.

I have seen the same - oddly enough on a Patek PW also...

That sub seconds dial is absolutely horrid too - it doesnt even align with the cross hairs, or the 6 second marker

Walk or preferably, run away as fast as you can
