    Hi everyone,

It is my first time posting so I hope I am in the correct subsection.

I recently purchased a vintage Omega 2169 and have found an issue with the 30T2 movement rattling/moving within the case. I know the watch is back loaded so the screw-down case-back should theoretically hold the movement in place, however it does not do so firmly. Having looked around online at pictures of the same watch, I see that in all of them the movement has a ring with what I assume is some sort of movement guard (which mine does not have) and I am wondering now whether that part is needed for the movement to stay in place. The other possible cause could be that the crystal is not original and that it does somehow not create enough gap for everything to fit snuggly. I attached a picture of the glass which look like it protrudes more than the one on https://vintagecaliber.com/products/1945-omega-ref-2169-screw-back-gilt or https://vintagecaliber.com/products/1945-omega-ref-2169-rare-silver-dial

I would appreciate if anyone with experience on this watch or similar can shed some light on the issue.

    Thanks in advance,
    Andy

That missing retainer ring is your problem. Not only does it make up the difference between the size of the movement and the opening in the case, the tabs press against the inside of the case back to hold the movement snug withing the case.

Thanks to both for the quick response. I will have to try source one somewhere, does not seem like an easy part to find...

EDIT: Found ones without the flaps/tabs such as this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Omega-vint...341852?hash=item469492885c:g:5X0AAOSwXetcwHIUPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

Would this work until I manage to get my hands on one with flaps?
