so, here we go again..... my favourite 20F winged case model just back from a service and No chance to find the replacement crystal. this has one of the best movements, i have seen and the original Glass is extremly scratched and gouged. my old omega watchmaker , who died unexpected , had a few replacement plastic crystals for these cases. my new, old watchmaker has not. so, all Omega 20F lovers here, can somebody point me to these plastic crystals? pics. included. massive silver dial with a ghost dial/cleaning disaster. blued hands. and nothing to see because of that glass. glass is: 28.05x17.88. Any help much appreciated. will not ship the watch ; need the plastic repalcements here. kind regards. achim
Well, you are seriously hampering your efforts - the best way to source these is to have the case in hand and fit by trial and error. The fancy crystals like this are not easy to size without knowing the specifics - not just the outer dimensions but what curves the crystal may have - this one appears to be curved in one direction at least, maybe two... Local watch material suppliers will often have a crystal fitting service, but again you need to send the case (not the whole watch).
Nice watch Achim and a very good buy. I can check with my old watchmaker to see if he has any in his old stocks. Cheers Russell.
Thanks all, much appreciated. If anybody knows a re dialer, who has that correct 1936 font, let me know. The omega sign and that Mickey mouse omega writing, slightly slanted, is only as a very, very ghostly impression to recognise. Just imprint in the existing, pure silver Dial with the enameled and 2 tone silver Railway and long enameled , pointed 5 minute markers. If nobody can be found, it stays as is. Kind regards. Achim .
I checked my stash today, and I don’t have anything. The dimension on this one are odd. Considering how tall it is, it is quite narrow. Sorry I am unable to help.
