    Hi guys,

Thinking about purchasing this watch. Would like a ballpark valuation from anyone who knows much about Omega watches made for United States Steel. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :) omega1.JPG omega2.JPG omega3.JPG omega4.JPG omega5.JPG omega6.JPG

To save everyone some time, I'm just going to say that there are lots of reasons why that seller is not a forum favourite. The comments people are likely to give you on that watch will pretty much reflect what we say to most watches they sell.

Case is over polished, particularly the lugs and an inscription has been removed from the back (these were presentation watches), brushing should be in a straight up and down line not circular.

Every offering from this seller is priced 50 - 100% over market value.

Unless you have a special affinity for US Steel, these typically sell for $50-$100 less than an otherwise equal Seamaster.

Buy it if you like but you will over pay.

So we're looking at around $600-800?

These US Steel watches typically sell on eBay for $400-$500 and often with an original bracelet.

You should be able to find a nice original Seamaster unishell $600-800.

Not a single watch they have on offer would be considered by a collector or anyone who has done a bit of homework.

Check the sales forum here http://omegaforums.net/forums/watches-for-sale nice watches come up often.

You were being told not to buy from there.

Norm has been good enough to explain why in more detail, but the reason I didn't is that if you search the forum you will see that we are regulalry asked about their watches & the answers are pretty much always the same. The conclusion is always the same - don't buy from there unless you want to waste a lot of money.

Minor point to add, the buckle is a terrible fake.

    "Constructive criticism only"

what does that even mean? Do you mean something like this: the dial looks really clean?

confirmation bias is such a powerful and primitive defense mechanism.

    Sigh..

I meant criticism that I can actually get something out of. Like that post right there. Didn't learn anything.

Not every post at OmegaForums is made for your benefit. Some are made in reaction to your failing to grasp advice freely offered.

You can actually polish a turd! I usually envy the Mythbusters, but not so much on this myth...

Albeit in their mocking tones. Nevertheless, OmegaForums for the win ::psy::. Just saved me from a potential disaster.
