***UPDATE post - thanks to your advice I now have the unique identifiers for these watches**** Omega Speedmaster model 145012-67 calibre 321 Omega automatic model 166.002 calibre 565 Hi there, My late father's Omega Speedmaster and Seamaster 1968 watches were stolen from my home in Sydney, Australia. The speedmaster is of huge sentimental value to me. He wore it every day. They were 21st birthday gifts when he travelled to the US as part of the Airforce. I was after advice on where these watches could end up so I can buy them back. The speedmaster has a brown leather Omega band and the cap to the bottom winder is missing. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Penny
Very very very sorry to hear of the theft. My only 2 cents is to make sure to get a police report, and then keep an eye out on Ebay, local pawn shops and some other online sales places. Other than the missing pusher (not bottom winder?) Unfortunately, what you are describing could be thousands of Speedmasters
Welcome to the Forum I am so sorry to learn of your loss Do you have photographs and/or serial numbers for the watches ? Start to monitor local markets, & contact local watchmakers who may be offered the pieces
Jenny…I regret that image could be any Speedmaster Do you have insurance photographs Sharp clear images, taken close in, to see every mark & nuance in the watches ?
Keep a eye on Gumtree would be your best bet, and visit a few cash converters pawn shops locally and mention the theft. Which suburb as several here frequently visit to look for vintage watches.
T Thanks for your reply and suggestion. I live in Lindfield but the Police suspect they probably were out of area...
Chances are the thieves have no idea what they have stolen..... The DON bezel alone, is worth AUD $ 3000 Do you have car boot sales in the area ? Pawnbrokers are definitely worth trying
@speedmaster1968 Hey mate, I'm frequently on eBay and Gumtree and will keep my eye out for any speedmasters or seamasters.
If you have a record of the serial numbers I would also suggest you post them in this thread along with the word "Stolen" so if anyone ever googles these numbers they'll know that these watches are stolen and will have a way of contacting you.
thank you all for your suggestions and for potentially keeping your eye out. I have contacted the watch maker who did a major refurb on the watches a few years ago for me to see if he has the serial numbers which I will post when and if I get them. I'll keep my eye out as you have all suggested on the different sites. Thank you.
At least the missing lower pusher should be an immediate signal on the Speedy if it surfaces somewhere.
Thank you everyone for your comments. The watchmaker who did the most recent repair did record the details of the watches - Omega Speedmaster model 145012-67 calibre 321 Omega automatic model 166.002 calibre 565
