I concur, based on my admittedly limited experience with the trilogy Speedmaster and Seamaster. While I think each will only look better over time with normal wear to the case, lugs and (especially, in my opinion, in the instance of the Speedmaster) bezel, the shine is manageable. I’ve put each of mine on leather, I find this helps a lot (even though I think the Seamaster in particular looks great on its bracelet). I will try the Speedmaster on a forstner bracelet once it arrives. In the meantime, i’ve got it on a two stitch strap which I am quite fond of (the Seamaster is on the omega leather strap that came with it).

Here are a few recent pics I took of each in Toronto light

Thanks for these. FWIW, my SM300 is no more shiny or blingy than my 2018 SMP 300 black wave in most environments, and in direct sunlight actually much calmer. I also find that the finishes highlight the casework in interesting ways. As a pretty strict tool-watch guy (closest thing to a dress watch that I own is an ancient Cartier handwind) it's a nice compromise between tooly and dressy, then and now.

Just a little heads up if anyone is still hunting. There are two Seamasters and one Railmaster in stock at the Omega Boutique on Regent Street London.

There's a Omega Seamaster Railmaster Master Co-Axial Limited Edition 1957 Trilogy sitting in a window just asking to be bought from an AD who is losing their AD status, £1800 off list price.

Just picked this up today! Don't know why I waited so long. Any recommendations for good quality 19mm leather straps appreciated.
Go for a 20mm and squish it. As horrible as it sounds, Honestly that’s the best option as you’re pretty limited with 19mm straps

Yes, both are in the royal exchange boutique also. I think the issue is that they won’t discount them and therefore they are a hard sell (esp the railmaster at over 5 grand despite being a lovely watch)

Done that before with other watches. Never completely satisfied with the result. I have found a few good options in 19mm, though. Just waiting to see if any Black Friday deals are forthcoming on those sites 😀

Haven't tried the brown nato on this recent pick up yet. No Omega dealer nearby and the strap changing procedure looks fraught with pitfalls as in commemorating them on the lugs.

I strongly recommend Bulang & Sons...they have a great selection of high quality 19mm straps and their service and delivery times are fantastic.

I have a Bulang that fits beautifully, and tried a Vulcan 19mm also -- nice strap also, and a good value. My attempts to fudge it with a 20mm were less than successful.

you can always go with custom starp makers if you don't want to buy from the big guys. @wristwatchme (instagram) does some nice work at affordable prices and is a nice guy to deal with. then you have combatstraps who are a bit more expensive but does great work as well and has a huge variety of leathers.

Thanks all for the various recommendations. They all look good, but have gone with one from Veblenist in the end. Will post pics of it on the Speedy when it arrives.

Veblenist strap not arrived yet, but meanwhile, have squeezed in this 20mm horween strap which looks pretty damn good!

US equivalent size from that era is 3/4". If you do a search on eBay, you will find a plethora of choices that are new/old stock that are period correct because they come from the period!

Just tried it and you'll also want to filter on 19mm because a lot of junk comes up too.

Well, looks like I'll probably not be buying the Railmaster Trilogy after all.

Not sure what that means? You're getting a full Trilogy set maybe?
Do it, abrod520!
