I suppose it must vary from place to place. I was in my AD in Belfast a few weeks back and they had a RM in the window. Obviously no waiting list at that particular outlet. I'd be interested in how fast that Watchfinder one shifts at that price. Seems optimistic.

I agree. I think with the run being 3777 that is quite small so the price should increase

OB in Houston said there were Seamasters and Railmasters still available that could be bought whenever they got them in without an allocation. Speedmasters were gone pretty quick.

I don't have any of them but after watching this and other threads with interest, it seems that the Speedmaster is the only one which would have been way over-subscibed. AFAIK the SM and RM are still available here and there, so I don't imagine they'd have much "investment" potential..
I picked up mine from an OB in uk last week. It was in the window. So clearly no waiting list

I've got the chance to put my name down for the Railmaster and Seamaster 60th Anniv. Are these rare pieces/Good Investment? Been off the Omega scene for a while my last piece was the Silver Snoopy Award.

Does anyone have any insight on how to properly recharge the lume on the 60th Speedmaster? Despite wearing the watch all day the lume is not bright at night and when holding under a bright light for a few minutes it appears to hold charge for short time. thanks.
The SM isn't very bright either...not terribly experienced with such matters, perhaps someone with more omega/rolex wear can comment...i take it that's how they are...most of my previous watches have been Luminox, which are awesomely bright at night even after 10 yrs [attributable to the tritium, as opposed to phosphorescent lume].

Greetings everyone,
I'm a total newbie to mechanical watches and just yesterday took delivery of a Seamaster 60th Anniversary. Originally ordered the Railmaster but fell in love with the Seamaster when I saw it in person.
So, there is a Railmaster at Omega Boutique in White Plains, NY if anyone is interested. Forgive my ignorance but can someone give me a quick rundown on winding, etc.
I figured out the basics, unscrew the crown puts me in the winding position, pull out to second position to set the time. Should I only turn the crown in the forward direction to wind? And only until I feel resistance as not to overwind?
Lastly, when I pull crown out to 2nd position and second hand stops (is this what is referred to as hacking), any way to bring second hand back to 12 o'clock?
Sorry to sound like a total rookie but I just want to prevent any damage.

Welcome to OF and congratulations on the SM, it looks fantastic!

As to winding: You are correct that you unscrew the crown to position one to wind. Winding will be unidirectional, so with the watch upright and facing you, wind/turn the crown away from you. This watch has the 8806 automatic movement in it with a power reserve of 55hrs. What this means is that once you have it going and on your wrist, your own movements will wind the rotor and thus keep powering the watch. If you ever take it off for an extended period of time and the watch stops, simply wind it up a bit, set the time, and slap it back on your wrist.

As an honest opinion seeing the 57 speedmaster on the bracelet was always a perfect match.
On the Seamaster - to me - the bracelet left the whole watch feeling a little shiny (whilst still loving it). This may be to do with the polished internal bezel?
Whatever the position I bought the railmaster strap - which to me perfectly matches the Seamaster.
Not the greateast of photos but find these watches hard to photo unless there is natural light

I too had noticed that the lume is quite dim, compared to my FOIS.

The two photos attached are, firstly of the two watches soon after being 'charged' with an LED torch, and the second about 9-10mins later (note that both watches were not running!).

As you can see, the Speedy 60th, on the left, dims quite considerably in comparison to the FOIS. However, I have noticed that despite the initial rather quick lowering of illumination, I have been able to see the time 6-7 hours later, in the dark, unlit bedroom.

So yes, the lume of the Speedy 60th is noticebly lower, but has not been an issue for me. I am assuming that a decision was taken to limit it in line with the 'aged' look of the watch. I do not think the lowered output is simply due to the use of the "fauxtina' lume as that used on the Seamaster 300 MC (not the 60th Anniversary one) gives a brilliant,bright and long lasting illumination in comparison, unless of course, it has a different formula?

Different editions for different regions? I noticed that DIV's is marked UK at the bottom of its spine, so perhaps that is what is issued here? Regardless of the differences, it looks like it is a book worth having, so I will be giving my AD a call Monday morning!
