I think the faux patina is a bit of an insult to all those that worked hard to get their patinas on their vintage watches.
It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it.

I have never purchased a watch new from a boutique, AD, etc. Ever. And I called the boutique in Chicago 30 minutes before it even opened to frantically throw my wallet at them. Can't remember ever being this excited for a new watch to arrive. I had completely written off ever owning a 2915, and have found other re-editions (the FOIS, 2998, '57 Broad Arrow - kinda), to be interesting from a nostalgia perspective but unsatisfying to own since they're still noticeably different from the vintage models. It's clear from these photos that every single detail from the original was considered and faithfully recreated here, down to the dimensions, bracelet finish/appearance, dial and sub-dial text, the crown, etc. Even a (tastefully) tropical effect added to the dial! In a weird way, this completes my journey, as I'll no longer feel the need to hunt for the earliest Speedy I can find.

Also, I CAN ACTUALLY WEAR IT!

this brings up an interesting thought. as these re-issues get more and more popular with brands (Hamilton/Heuer/Omega/etc), how much does this impact the marginal vintage buyer and the larger vintage market in general? personally, if the Autavia reissue was as true to the original as these Omegas are, I wouldnt be looking for a 2446!

I'm dying here. . . I Love all three of them, but favour the Seamaster and Speedy the most. REALLY shouldn't even be looking at another watch! 👎 But. . . If I was, which one would it be?? 😗

Haha, also doing the same routine! I'm guessing more than a few members here will be peppering the FS section in the coming weeks.

i guess these posts answer my question 😀

bazamu, did the boutique give you a timeline for delivery?

Same thought here, with so much interest I'm curious what will come up in the FS section in the next weeks. I know that I will post something there as well, the SM is just to perfect to pass. If a Gemini IV pops up in the FS though.... I will be living on bread crumbs and tap water for the rest of the year 😵‍💫.

People who have preordered: Where are you located? I'm going back and forth with the boutique in NYC and they say they're unable to reserve yet because they don't have all the pricing information in. A guy is checking for me now.

Also, how much did you need to put down?

I pre-ordered the Trilogy from the boutique in Troy, MI and they asked for $5000 deposit on a total of $21,600.

I would be excited about the buyer's market about to hit the FS section, but I can't afford anything as I'm also going to throw my wallet at the Railmaster 😵‍💫

Same boat 🙁

Thinking I'll throw up my old Doxa sub 300T to make room.

Still though, there are worse problems to have. This is easily the most excited I've ever been about a new watch launch.

Only the 557 in the set of 3 have the dial script AFAIK

There is a different dial for the trilogy vs the singles?

If you zoom in on the trilogy shots it looks like there's some extra text under the logo

They said May but that they also hadn't received an exact date so they couldn't confirm it yet. And to someone else above who asked, yeah, they took a 25% deposit.

My thought - it only really matters for vintage pieces that are unattainable. In this case, a 2915-1 is never going to be affordable to me, so I had written off buying it. My guess is that if buyers are out there and have the funds but just haven't matched with a 2915-1 yet, they won't buy the re-edition and scratch the 2915 off their list. All about levels of wealth / collecting.

And to your other point - I think it would only affect vintage sales if the re-edition is a virtual 1:1 copy, which this one is. I can't think of any other re-edition that's come so close to the original. The only other maybe being the Heuer Carrera re-edition, but even that had a few marked differences.

This is what Hodinkee said concerning the 557 trilogy pieces:

All three models can also be purchased together as a set, limited to 557 additional pieces, as mentioned on their respective dials and casebacks, for a total 20,000 CHF.

My gut reaction is to NOT want the extra limited edition text on the dial. If the point of these is getting clones of the original with updated movements, do I really want the extra text cluttering the dial and reminding me I don't actually own the original? I like the idea of the trilogy set and sure it will be lower production and more exclusive, but I think I'd rather order the three separate. Thoughts?

If you buy all three go for the set.

London for the Trilogy, nothing. But I'm a (too) regular buyer so they know that they'll get the money.

Thanks. NYC boutique still a no-go. They said they'll figure it out and be able to take reservations by later today or tomorrow morning at the latest.
