So, now I have a rather significant dilemma. Got my email today from a UK OB that my SM300 '57 is in. I live in the US and am travelling to the UK next week. The dilemma comes from the fact I have, whilst waiting impatiently for the release invested in a Tudor BBB ETA and a Speedmaster CK2998 LE making funds tight. Making them tighter is a £17k bill to replace a roof on my house in the UK. So, what to do? Buy and stretch oneself, let it pass to a fellow enthusiast in the U.K. or buy and offer at list price to an someone in the US? Advice and guidance gretefully received......

Personally I would stretch myself. I believe overall pricing in the U.K. is cheaper than the US. At the same time, I don't think the SM300 will sell out, so getting it at a discount from an authorized dealer is a possibility.

In conclusion, buy it if you can make ends meet, otherwise pass on it, and pick it up later.

idk. from what i have heard these havent sold out so i would think they are going to be selling at a discount on the secondary market, unlike say the Speedy Tuesday. on that note, does anyone think any of the 3 Trilogy watches will trade at a premium if listed for sale as BNIB?

I think they will at first, but there are enough of them to go around that I don't think it'll hold. I'd look to the CK2998 LE for guidance, which isn't selling at a steep discount but can be had for a reasonable price. Of course, it isn't as desirable as these so we'll see.

Thanks both. Heard similar that with 3557 pieces of each model it may not have sold out and I may, once I have paid for my over exuberance in waiting and the roof bill, be able to pick one up at a later date.

Having not been able to see it in the metal as yet I am not subject to the heart ruling head scenario. I think I'm going to go and see her and see how I feel. Appreciate the comments.

i spoke to a UK dealer on these and was shocked how cheap they were compared to the US. since you are traveling to the UK, it could be worth it for you buy it there and flip it, assuming you could flip at or near US list on OF, especially if you could get the VAT back over there.

What's the list price in the US at the moment?

Brothers in Arms or rather on Arm.

Sadly the SM has the wrong LE number so doesn't match my RM

Most photos here or elsewhere online for that matter give the impression that the NATO for the SM is black, but it isn't, it's actually a rather lovely brown. Would go nicely with my RM.

To add to this the UK pound has fallen in value like a rock lately so must make it a better time for overseas buyers than ever.

Agreed. It's a really nice shade. I'm hoping to get the grey that ships with the Speedy in the future.

What are they asking for these in Britain? Is the price that different?

on a SM300, i was quoted a VAT free price with free shipping to the US of £4460 which today is ~$5750, so $2k cheaper than what it would cost in the US after tax. Sterling was weaker relative to the dollar when I inquired in March. The USD price back then from a UK dealer would have been ~$5400.

You just may be the first U.S. delivery. Although I'm jealous, this means my Trilogy Speedmaster should not be too far behind!
