Stunning piece!! Does the box contain a watch roll?
Yes. Delivered on metal. In the Watch roll the NATO strap and a leather band.

Is the box really that big? I was hoping for something more in keeping with something you might get in the 1950s/1960s.

It's a beautiful watch. I was also expecting a smaller box, but it really looks great! So... I called the OB where I placed my orders for a seamaster and they were caught by surprise when I told them that some reeditions were already been delivered elsewhere. They told me they were expecting to receive watches... in September 🫨I truly don't get it! The OB I'm speaking of is also located in Paris...

Simply put, I didn't trust what she was telling me. She was just saying yes to pretty much anything
I've been living in China for the past three years and I've experienced similar many times. The outcome is pretty much always the same - they are just telling you exactly what you want to hear, without any evidence to back it up.

I may have lost out on a genuine opportunity to pick one up, but that's the feeling I had, so I walked.
When I was first inquiring at a lesser OB in Hong Kong, they were only looking for 20% down. Later, the guy told me the head office told them to stop taking reservations entirely. Likely he just wanted to get rid of me. I don't think I'd have been comfortable giving $7000 to any store in China as a foreigner, probably not even $1400 for that matter. Caveat emptor is the rule here. I'm betting you made a good call. I suspect you'll still be able to buy one on the spot for a while after they show up in the stores.

I'm sure mine are about the same size - too afraid to measure to know for sure! The realization of how big the watch looked on you prompted my initial post! Here's hoping I can carry it off as well as you do!

So, changing topics, ahem, are these 60th Anno pieces all subscribed at the Champs Elysée OB or could a person still reserve one? The trio sets? Or is that confidential knowledge?

With HK, a store's reputation is everything if you're going through more questionable channels, and definitely be a bit cautious with newer, less established shops. But generally the reliability and authenticity is good for new modern watches. The vintage market however Is not for the uninitiated as there a truck loads of Frankenstein watches.

China is an even more complicated minefield to navigate in. By far and large, I would never ever source a watch which is not from a large authorised boutique. Hell, even the local Chinese fly to Singapore , Hk and Malaysia to get watches , since trust can be a real issue.
