There are times when I see those and am not so keen, but other times are wallet-shirinkingly nice. The above photo is one such! I think it's the arrow hands - some photos don't set them off well, but that looks lovely!

You have a valid point dear... but I don’t appreciate separation if I can avoid...

Despite the 14mm thickness, pleased at how well it fits under the cuff of dress shirts.

Beautiful and inticing photo...thank goodness for the 14mm thickness as it's the ONLY thing (besides the money part) preventing me from getting it right now!

Both look great, but I’m intrigued by the strap/clasp on the Seamaster. More photos and background info please!

a question for railmaster owners, according to the omega manual what does 60m of water resistance mean? Does it mean you can only get your watch wet during hand washing or can you also take it for a surface swim?

Unlike other watches that have generic claims, the RMLE is Master Chronometer certified to 60m water resistance. This means that the very watch I'm wearing was literally submerged underwater under 60m pressure and was able to pass the test. I have worn the watch while taking a bath but I wouldn't want to take it to the pool for fear that the watch would hit the tiles and get scratched. Of course, as my watch ages, the less reliable it will become in terms of depth rating.

Anyway, there are general guidelines on the internet about depth ratings and practical use but the METAS "Master Chronometer" certification is a different animal.

    WATER RESISTANCE

This test submerges the watch underwater, gradually applying more pressure up the point of the stated water resistance. For certain watches, it also goes beyond. This ensures that each watch is properly tested for underwater conditions.

thanks for the reply, so if their statemant is true then you can also take it for a free dive, given that the average person will NOT dive beyond 5meters during summer holidays...

Hmm, probably shouldn't. Exposure to water temperature such as a bath isn't recommended..

No worries. Water in tub is just warm (not hot) and I prefer cold showers. :)

Does anyone have any insight on how to properly recharge the lume on the 60th Speedmaster? Despite wearing the watch all day the lume is not bright at night and when holding under a bright light for a few minutes it appears to hold charge for short time. thanks.

I've got the chance to put my name down for the Railmaster and Seamaster 60th Anniv. Are these rare pieces/Good Investment? Been off the Omega scene for a while my last piece was the Silver Snoopy Award.

I don't have any of them but after watching this and other threads with interest, it seems that the Speedmaster is the only one which would have been way over-subscibed. AFAIK the SM and RM are still available here and there, so I don't imagine they'd have much "investment" potential..

Mozzie, when you say here and there are you referring to US? As it's vastly different from UK availability. I just called Oxford Street OB and was told they have 15 on the list for SM. Also Watchfinder are asking £6950 for their SM with the list price being £5200

I suppose it must vary from place to place. I was in my AD in Belfast a few weeks back and they had a RM in the window. Obviously no waiting list at that particular outlet. I'd be interested in how fast that Watchfinder one shifts at that price. Seems optimistic.
