Picked up is pretty nice seamaster.I think the dial has some nice patina.I don't think it's a redial, but not an expert. It runs pretty well. I'm about 95 seconds slow per day. So I'll probably have it service and cleaned up. I've thought about having it fully restored. But I like the patina. I think the crown is probably aftermarket. Any thoughts appreciated. Happy new year to everybody. Serial number 13494442.

It is a nice reference, and I also like the Explorer-style dial. Unfortunately, as noted above, it has been very poorly repainted and the movement has been abused. I'm just mentioning these issues to dissuade you from investing anything more into this watch.

You can tell it’s a redial here by looking at the quality and consistency of the text. For example, the M and E in Omega are different heights, different thickness, and overall the font is wrong compared to photos of original dials you can find online. Not to mention Seamaster is spelled very badly.

Thanks great insight and teaching.. I wonder if it's an old redial and maybe done even decades ago

Thank you. That's good advice. I guess I'll toss this one up as lesson learned. I'll still wear the watch. It runs pretty well.

Agree with this. It will never be a good or collectible example so the worse thing to do would be to throw good money after bad. If it’s running it can be a good daily wearer while you’re looking for a nice original version.

Looks original but dial is only ok.

I assume it’s 3-4x overpriced but depends on your comfort level with that

You can trust that Omega Enthusiasts’ watches are authentic and represented accurately on his website. You can also trust that they’re overpriced. But some are willing to pay more for confidence in a watch’s authenticity.

That latest watch looks fine. Interestingly, it's not in the type of condition I generally expect for Omega Enthusiast listings, but perhaps that means it's more affordable. When it comes to aged dials, I find it easier to accept aging/spotting that is evenly distributed across the dial, so this one is less appealing to me personally.

Personally I use omegaenthusiast’s listings to learn what an original watch should look like so I can evaluate other private listings. His watches are on the very high end of retail prices and you can easily find better prices in private sales.

Of course, if you want a stress free purchase and don’t mind the price, then his watches are great.

He also has a YouTube channel called “Best Ever Vintage Watch Channel” (seems like he recently changed the name) which is great for learning (sort his videos by popularity). I would also highly recommend checking out the “How to fish” post pinned in this forum.
