Just for fun, and for a bit of 1950's ambience, here is a scan of an advert I have just purchased from an eBay seller in France. It is from an issue of "Plaisir de France" in 1951, and seems to be celebrating the fact that Omega had just got 1,000 movements chronometer certified by the BO at Bienne, with the added bonus of "particularly good results". Great style! PS By the way, if you want to right-click and save the image for yourself, please feel free to do so
Actually, that event occurred in 1949, not 1951. Desmond did an article about it, based on an inquiry I made about a watch I had purchased. http://omega-constellation-collectors.blogspot.com/2009/04/famous-1000-certified-omega.html Here is another article with a copy of the letter from the Bureau to Omega confirming the dates and serial numbers of the 1,000. http://www.mediafire.com/view/j62tp0t79p66ubj/Omega_History_Making_Movement.pdf Hope this helps, gatorcpa
Fun, this, isn't it I had no idea my advert related to something so historic . . . I just liked the look of the graphics. The seller seemed quite sure that the magazine was 1951, but the date does not appear on my actual page. Perhaps Omega just kept running the ad and getting mileage out of past events! Anyhow, thank you once again Gator for filling in the gaps
Some other ones? There was a whole series with only différences in the text (sorry I'm afraid only French speaking members will appreciate...). I also love those from the same period : I love those vintage ads...
Respectable Members John R Smith & Tire-comedon Indeed they are nostalgic and bring back memory of the good old days. Some of the watches, which are highly desirable amongst vintage watch-lovers today, were crying for buyers in the retailers' shop windows, in the 50's and 60's. Thank-you.
Respectable member Seamonster I fully agree with you. I take this opportunity to dare posting a couple of other Seamaster and other ads :
