Folks, I recently met someone with what looked like a stainless steel 176.007, but instead of the typical tachymeter bezel like the one on my gold-plated version, it had a Start/Stop bezel similar to what you see on the 176.010 yacht version... except there were no second/minute indicators on the blue and red part of the bezel (they were just solid colors). The bezel did not have "YACHTING" printed on it like I've seen on the 176.010 versions.

I thought that maybe his watch was a yacht version, but he said it was a 176.007 and when I checked it was the same size as my 176.007. But there was that bezel! He said it was all original as far as he knew, so was it a possible service replacement?

I wish I'd gotten a pic, but it's made me wonder if there is a version of the 176.007 that had the Start/Stop bezel on it OR whether the one I saw was a 176.007 with a 176.010 bezel insert. That said, I know the 176.010 had a larger case and I don't even know that it's insert would fit on a 176.007. And this bezel did NOT have "YACHTING" printed on it either.

I've also read on multiple threads over the years that sometimes these kinds of versions came out of the factory since the parts were virtually interchangeable on several similar models (for instance, I know some .007s have .001 casebooks on them).

Anyway, I love my gold-plated .007 and plan on eventually picking up a stainless steel variant with a blue or silver dial, so any feedback is great as I learn more about these awesome watches! Thanks!

OK, this is a follow up. Attached is a Tissot that looks a lot like the Omega Seamaster I saw. It had a similar color brown dial and black subdials along with the timing bezel - although the Tissot bezel looks more like the .010 bezel than the .007 I saw. After some research, I can't find a brown colored .007 dial like the one I saw - and I've been researching .005s too. Anyway, any ideas folks? I'll see if I can get a pic.

Bingo. Exactly like that from what I can remember. What's the deal?

The bezel on the 176.007 is inserted in the crystal. He probably had a version of the 176.010 crystal installed.

I grabbed the pic from an eBay listing that's been up for the past few weeks. I'm sure the bezel is not legitimate. I don't think the dial is correct either, but it is a pretty good redial that looks like a hybrid between an Omega Yachting and a Tissot Navigator. Case and movement look fine for a 007.

So you really think that dial is not OEM for the 176.007 or any 1040 variant? It's hard to imagine it would be worth the time and money to do that for one of these watches.

Just one amateur's opinion but, no I don't think that is OEM. A few details seem "off", such as the lack of the number 45 and the minute track at 15. The logo also looks asymmetric but that could just be the angle of the camera.

But it's more telling to me that the eBay watch has been unsold at a reasonable price. If it were legitimate and rare it would have had many bidders.

...forgot to mention that the Omega dial is missing SWISS MADE as well.

The ebay watch is also missing the track marks around the left subdial

Too bad because that's a beautiful color combo Might have to look out for a Navigator like that!
