Omega 166.024 Caseback: Genuine or Copy? Opinions

Hi all 👋 new to the forum posting but usually refer to the group for information.
Please could I get some opinions on the watch? The bezel seems good along with the dial case and movement but I believe the case back may be a copy?
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

I am selling on behalf of someone, not looking to buy it. It’s the steps on the case back, normally I thought there was supposed to be 3 but on this there is only 2.

I would say the bezel and dial are genuine but both are average at best. The bezel has multiple breaks and the dial has significant damage.

something definitely seems off about it. Maybe it was polished down and somebody re-engraved the hippocampus and text

What are your concerns? The caseback looks fine to me.

The back looks flat and recently polished. Doesn’t match the rest of the case. Usually there is a slight step.

That doesn’t mean it’s not genuine, which was the question.
Looking at the condition of th bezel and dial, a polished caseback is the least of its condition issues.

Thank you for your opinion, something just doesn’t seem quite right with it.
