Dear all, I am a new member of this forum and also a newbie into watch collecting. I bought an Omega 166.0173 / 366.0832 recently, which is one of my (affordable) dream watches. Now I have a big problem: The band is not adjustable to my very thin wrist. The watchmaker says that there are not enough screws inside the links to remove them. One option would be another Omega band (bracelet). The original one is not in stock anymore, but it has been replaced by another one called 1181/215. Does this one fit my watch and has anybody experience with removing links (it should be around 12-13 cm at least).

Kind regards from Germany and pardon me if I did something wrong in this post

    Dominik

I think 1181/215 is indeed the original bracelet for this model, but since it came in different variations it could be the case that other steel bracelet fit as well. The problem is that since it is an integrated bracelet it's hard to adapt another one.

Ok, so does that mean if I buy another bracelet (maybe the "facelift model") with the same part number or part reference, it does fit? Does anyone know about the possibility to adjust or"shorten" it? Here are some pictures.

So, after removing all possible links, how many of them remained? I cannot see this from your photos. Is your wrist less than 15cm?

Yes it is, there was just one link removable according to 4 different watchmakers. Some told me, that the band was designed like this (always just one link removable) and others said that someone tried to remove more and damaged the screws so that another adjustment isn't possible anymore. I need around 11-13, kind of. It's more like a woman's wrist, unfortunately. I will send pictures. I am really desperate.

The concern about integrated bracelets like this one is that Omega might have slightly changed the center link at some point so it no longer fits in the case you have. (I ran into this issue with a Geneve Dynamic, the later production bracelet is still in stock, but the center links are ever so slightly wider than the original bracelet required. Cue a months long search for spare links from the original).

The other thing is that the 1181 still might not be able to be small enough as you need.

That's what I've apprehended. May I send you three items auctioned on ebay? All of them told me that the band might fit, one (first one I send) said that in the description of the item.

I am sorry for those long links, I don't know how to shorten them. I hope you can have a look at those items.

    Thanks

The person with the second link told me that he could remove 3 links (8 cm each) and could adjust the clasp about 20mm, so that the band would be shortened from 17,5 to 13... But I don't know about that...

I checked mine, and it seems that after removing all removable links and adjusting the clasp to the minimum it should fit a very small wrist! So perhaps my bracelet is not the same as yours? Be careful, though, as there are fake 1181 bracelets out there.

Ok thanks for testing!! Have you checked the ebay links? I would really appreciate that, because then I would be more confident in buying one of the bands, although I know that there is no 100% security possible. Maybe you are more experienced than I am.

    kind regards

Actually only the first one seems genuine to me. It looks exactly like mine. But I think it's too much expansive! For the same price you can get another watch, that you can use for parts, like this one: https://www.ebay.it/itm/Omega-Genev...ss-Steel-Watch-/263941228835?oid=163247263074Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

If you look at the bracelets on ebay, you can see that there are only three links that can be removed (red circles). You can move the leaf of the clasp to the first hole (green arrow) and that is the shortest the bracelet will go.

Check your bracelet and count the links, you don't show a full picture so it's hard to say if it's at its shortest.

Compare yours to this picture (The two links closest to the clasp, the left circle is in the wrong position).

Thanks again. I have 14 links if I counted correctly. The problem is, according to the watchmakers, that the links are not removable anymore because somebody tried this before and the screws in the links are damaged (but I can't see this). I have added more pics, can you see something?
