This watch appears to be a 166.002 Speedmaster Companion Tropical Brown Dial in a Gold Capped Case.

I have never seen this model in this configuration.

Red Omega symbol and Crosshair Dial.

Dial signed SWISS MADE T. at bottom.

I know the photo is terrible but I am seeking opinions about whether this watch is legitimate.

Are you referring to the dial type and hands or the fact it’s in a gold capped case?

It looks fine to me.

It’s actual a technical dial, not a Speedmaster companion.

I am referring to the fact that it's a gold capped case with a white seconds hand and a brown dial.....that I am assuming was originally black.
Why is it not a Speedmaster Companion? Just curious.
Thank you for your reply!

Speedmaster companion dials are different. No crosshair etc. several threads on the subject on this forum for you to read.

Do you know the dial is brown? It looks black to me, but even if it is, it’s just natural aging of the black finish.

The white seconds hand is fine. I would think gold coloured hour/minute hands would be more appropriate for a gold case but I don’t know for certain.

I have done a bit of searching online and cannot find any Technical dials in gold capped cases?
I have seen no evidence that this watch was ever available in a gold capped case?
I don't have this watch yet to take proper photographs of the dial.

Lots of examples of technical dials in gold capped/filled cases. There’s even advertising with text saying available in steel and gold plated. However, these are usually in seamaster 600 guise. That could be because most technical Seamasters are SM600’s with the auto version 165.002/166.002 being less commonly seen

It could be that there was no gold plated/filled 166.002 technical dial from the factory but that would be slightly unusual. I would expect it was a legit variant. However, I would expect gold tone hands.
