Omega 145.013 Flightmaster - pusher and crown color question

Hey guys,

I got a nice Flightmaster 1.gen this weekend. Besides the bracelet I am looking for, I would like to have it more colorful like it came from the factory. I have two options: Buying Service parts, or keeping the original parts and paint them.





I chose to take option 2, since all the parts can kept original in that way. Does anyone of you have experience with painting the pushers / crowns? Are paints like from Revel the best? And if yes, does anyone of you have the correct color codes?

What I need are the following codes:

yellow (pusher) - ?
red (pusher) - ?
blue (crown) - ?
grey (crown) - ?

here is how it should look like

Very nice looking watch. You are definitely going about it the right way.

Be aware though the watch will be susceptible to moisture with so many old pushers and crowns, so keep it out of the bathroom!

Sorry I can’t help with colour codes.

Nice watch with a cool dial. Take a service with new pushers, crowns and gaskets.

Thanks! As said before, I will keep the original state of the watch. Thats not my first vintage, so of course showers and water in any form is my enemy 😁

If you plan to wear it, and not worry (as I have wanted to with my stash of flightmasters), I'd be inclined to fit service pushers so that it is moisture and dust proof.

I've kept the original pushers for all three of the flightmasters I have had serviced - so if I ever get the urge to swap them back, I can... in the meantime, I don't need to worry about washing my hands, spilling a drink, or getting sweaty muck inside. 😁

that´s a very nice catch, huge congrats. In case the hands are original (what I assume), you need the only yellow coloured pushers, The installed pushers are not the original ones.
IMHO it is very hard to come by these original one tone pushers, so I would go for the two tone service parts.

Hey Hajo, thanks for your answer. As far as I understood, just the super early Flightmaster had either just yellow or just red pushers, depending on the color of the hands. Later they changed it to red/yellow for all watches, including the Cadmium ones. Can someone tell me when this happened? My Serial is 29.131.xxx so most likely a early to mid 1970s model.

IMO as your dial has no lume dots next to the 12 hour Marker, it is the very early one and they came with the one colour pusher.

I think it is supposition to suggest these are not the original pushers. Regardless finding a set of single colour pushers will be a near impossible task. The modern service pushers are incongruous, and in my opinion its well worth sacrificing water resistance to retain the originals.

I’ve got these two crowns amongst my spares. One’s pretty bright blue and the other is more a blueish steely grey. Flightmaster I guess.

If Omega or a reputable agent carry out a service they will send you back the original pushers. Decision for the owner but if he really wants to wear it regularly I’d do the opposite and get service ones fitted and Omega water seal whilst keeping all original parts if he ever wanted to sell.

It is akin to putting modern alloys on a classic car to me, an aesthetic no no. It is just so obviously new parts fitted.

I find it interesting that so many collectors search out flat foot crowns and original pushers for their Speedmasters for considerable expense, while I often see people happy to suggest replacing the originals on Flightmasters.

Is it a different type of collector, or a different perception of the value of the watch?

it’s a valid point and there’s a balance to be had
I had a -71 Speedie at one point that Omega completely overhauled. I was reasonably happy whilst I kept it.
Sadly time came to shift it at which point Simon Freese happily put everything back to original spec.
That way I got to wear a more robust watch whilst keeping all its vintage design queues but when selling on I sold the “Real Deal”
I’d be quite happy with a Watchco though which some people aren’t . So it’s really horses for courses

Some of us flightmaster collectors, think that some Speedmaster collectors, are deranged. 😉
