It's not often I have to demagnetize a watch, but when I do it's nearly always one of the two I have with the 1120 movement.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

I checked and my MacBook Pro seems to have strong magnetic fields around the palm rest area. That might well be a factor.

Yours must be really strong. I’ve worn my SMP all week long and use my MBP every day and have not experienced any magnetism issues.

It's one of the newer M1 models, I didn't have this issue before with the Intel MacBook Pro.

Ah, I have an Intel MBP so that would be our difference.

I think this magnet is pretty strong. There is one on the left side as well.

It's actually astonishing to me that, out of all of my watches from 1917 to 2020 manufacture, the only ones with an actual issue are the 1120 movement pieces. That includes a dozen Omega and ten-ish not-Omega.

That is weird indeed. Never a problem on my end, 1120 is a favorite of mine since it wears pretty thin compared to more modern Seamasters.

This one has a antimagnetic cage, too? Looks to be a really strong magnet. Why does the M1 have a magnet there?

This watch is easily one of my top five favorite watches. It's one I always admired but never really pursued. Glad to have it.

It lets the device know when the lid opens and also holds it closed.
