    Hi everyone,

I’m new here on this site , I’m looking for some advice on a topic I’m sure will have been covered a fair few times so forgive me. I’m looking for some information about a vintage omega 105.012 I’m looking to eventual purchase one after I get my omega Apollo 11 40th anniversary watch this week, I’m wanting to know how difficult they are to find for sale and what’s the difference between the .012 and the .012 65
And also what type of price would it roughly cost for a good .012.

    Thank you
    Joe

    Welcome to the Forum!

ck77 has already pointed you in the direction of one of the most valued online resources.
Make a note of the pricing chart complied from actual sales by the website owner or forum members actual purchases
    http://speedmaster101.com/price-chart-2/

105.012-xx = year of production ~roughly speaking as case back date doesn't always tie in with movement number or "Omega extract of the Archives" on these
e.g. The 105.012-63 (case back stamped "105.012-63") were normally sold/ delivered second quarter of 1964 onwards

(Extract of the Archives is a document ordered from omega after submitting a movement number for a particualr watch. The extract list many details about the watch and is commonly used as a reference to confirm you have a complete watch -case, dial, movement etc and that it is not just made up of parts)
    https://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/extract-of-the-archives/

You can also get a feel for what pricing is like for the 105.012 (63,64,65,66s) on chrono24 (high end dealer prices)
    https://www.chrono24.com/search/index.htm?watchTypes=&query=omega 105.012&dosearch=true&searchexplain=1&accessoryTypes=

Another resorce you will probable here about it is MWO (Moon Watch Only - hard backed book) http://www.moonwatchonly.com/

Good luck with hunting down your 105.012 !

    Welcome!
Nice choice that the 012 Speed.
Like all vintage watches it's quite hard to find one in good or very good condition. You must search again and again to know perfectly all the caracteristics of the watch.
My 012-65 (see here : https://omegaforums.net/threads/what-do-you-think-i-should-do-speedmaster-105-012-65.58998/) by example is in quite perfect condition, never polished, serviced once in the 70' and work perfectly, no time loss, I'm amazed indeed by its precision.
Sometimes I think to sell it... Sometimes not but if I would do it it were not under 12500€.

Also here is some history of the Speedmaster and why the 105.012 model in particular became known as the moon watch
    https://www.fratellowatches.com/speedmaster-became-moonwatch/

During your hunt for a 105.012 if it has a bracelet then it should tie in with this fantastic bracelet chart to be period correct for the 105.012 production years. https://omegaforums.net/threads/vintage-speedmaster-bracelet-chart.29051/

Bracelet : "Clasp Stamp" / "End Link Stamp"

    105.012-63 : Bracelet 7912 / 16 or 1506 / 16
    105.012-64,65,66 : Bracelet 1506 / 16

Also when you do find one I strong suggest posting pictures in this forum and then the many speedmaster experts on here can advise you on condition, if it seems worth the price or if anything is incorrect.

just take it easy and be patient. it's rarely possible to get an all original, complete ang mint condition. so be prepared to compromise on minor things.

This is what I did to get a splendid Speedy..or at least thought I might be overpaying, 6 months ago. Meanwhile I know it was a rare occasion and a bargain.

Thank you everyone for your warm welcome and all your help it is greatly appreciated, I realised what a mind field the Omega speedmasters is with different references, That's why I am doing as much research as possible before hand and I'll be patient and not rush into it. I look forward to seeing more pictures of your speedmasters. Again thank you

    A 1039/516 bracelet is OK for a 105.012-66 too
