Hi find out this « box » with seven Post cards , I remember they was the 1970 release with the crater , but don’t know about this one and from witch period. If someone remember this let me know Paul
Omega brought out a box with large well-known Apollo 11 lithographs with a letter which had autopen signatures of the A11 astronauts .
This kind of Omega marketing reminds us, spaceflight aficionados of three things: First of all, Omega didn't realise that both astronauts on the Gemini IV mission, each wore two Omega Speedmaster 105.003 chronographs. So four Speedmasters on Gemini IV . . Secondly, in 1970 Omega still didn't realise that Edwin Buzz Aldrin wore his Omega Speedmaster on his righthand wrist while walking on the Moon in July 1969... so they "photoshopped" a Speedmaster into the drawing used for marketing . . Last but not least, spaceflight fans will never forget Space Shuttle Endeavour mission STS-69 as it was the 100th successful crewed NASA spaceflight (excluding X-15 flights)... but also for the photoshopping of an iconic NASA photograph (Photo ID = STS069-714-046) showing astronaut Gernhardt during his EVA spacewalk on 16 September 1995 .
Indicating these mistakes in a disapproving way (read disappointing way ) might be easy, but it's a fun fact check during my lectures... But in Omega's defence, Buzz Aldrin wore his Speedmaster on the lefthand wrist during launch, that's why we have this excellent artwork remembering Buzz Aldrin & the first watch worn on the Moon, among our special commissionned illustrations . . FYI here's a bunch of Omega spaceflight marketing items, folders & books brought out between 1968 and 1995 Among which the cardboard Apollo 8 mission annalyzer and the good book entitled " The Moon Watch " to celebrate 25 years Moonlanding .
