I bought a Wittnauer diver (circa 1970) for my travels in Italy, but it fogged up in the crystal. So I left it behind and put on the watch I really love to wear every day: my freshly serviced -66 CB. Any concern about the delicate state of vintage Speedmasters has been alleviated. It survived the sweat of humid days in Venice and Tuscany, downpours in Rome, and topical cream in Scalea. It has fared better than I. To be fair, the watch was likely issued in 1967 or 68, whereas I was issued in 1966. Here is a picture of my hand as I recover from an extreme reaction to some virus: Blisters on the feet. Spots on the feet and hands. The local specialist gave me some meds so I'm on the mend. I hope you're not eating right now! Now I am content in knowing that I have nothing to fear wearing a vintage Speedmaster 321 on a 1039 bracelet every day. My question now is whether or not I want to. I am not entirely at peace with a vintage watch for everyday use. I'll have to resolve this for myself of course, but if anyone has opinions please share! Regardless of my decision, this watch is a keeper (until I inevitably change my mind).
Very sorry and welcome in Italy. If you need translations, especially for medical purpose, don't hesitate to ask.
Beautiful sea-side resort town with my wife's father's family in nearby Verbicaro. Don't think I've seen a creme for that
