I have a pretty beat up Seamaster...received it as a gift when I graduated from college in 1969. It is not working, and probably hasn't for about 30 years. A couple of questions...is this watch restorable, and any guesses as to the cost to do so? Also, where do I get the work done? I'm living in Wisconsin and can't seem to find an authorized Omega repair facility here anywhere. Any help and/or insight would be greatly appreciated. Martin Bacher
This is definitely worth fixing, and I think you will be happy with the way it looks once the crystal is replaced. Ideally it would be nice to find a good local independent watchmaker, which would be a much better option than an official Omega service center for a vintage collectible watch where you want to preserve originality as much as possible. In fact, it may not need much more than a full service and a new crystal. Please post a photo from the side so we can see if the crown is correct. If it's not, you will also want to get it replaced. But that's it. Don't let anyone convince you to replace any other parts or to polish the case. If you can't live with some scratches, then sell it as is before you throw the value away.
And why haven't you followed the suggestions in the other thread and gotten it fixed? It has been a year, after all.
Potential reply #1: I'm the exception that proves your rule. Potential reply #2: "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions." Hmmmm, which to post.....
