    Hello from New Zealand,

My brother was given this old watch (not working).

He is interested to find out when and where it was made.

Would be great if someone could help.

    Many thanks

    Kathryn

I should have included the following numbers.
    On the case:

    599

    Q22906363X

    6680463

    And on the workings:

    5952581

    F S

Very nice watch, possibly made for military use.

It was produced by Omega in Switzerland.

The case dates to about 1918/1920 and the movement number range is 1915 to 1923, so I would go for a military watch toward the end of World War One.

    I can't see the movement clearly, but it's possibly a Caliber 18''' L.

Thank you very much for your help.
Do you think it is worth having repaired?

Depends whether you consider 'worth' as resale value or personal enjoyment. I'd say it's worth it.

If it were mine I'd repair it and enjoy a hundred year old time piece. If repaired properly and taken care of, it will continue keeping accurate time for another hundred years.

Yes - it looks unblemished. To be honest we hadn't really thought about that but until posting in this forum we had no idea how old it was!
